Awful school-does nothing about bullying, teachers constantly yell, no leadership in administration
I just want to say that I am truly disappointed. I sent my son to the school for kindergarten and first grade and I must admit the teachers he had were amazing. But when I sent him this year for second-grade he had trouble with his teacher and the school principal and the assistant principal and his IEP teachers and his teacher would not help us. He was shut out of the classroom he had to wait outside until his teacher settled the other students down. We have now moved and he goes to la center elementary. Which is an amazing school. My child has always been a little anxious but this year but the teacher he had ,it has become too much for him I found out that my child has social anxiety he panics when he goes to school. He will now have to see a child psychologist. The assistant principal basically told me my child wanted to be in control of the situations and that is why he was acting the way he was but this was not the case. He was willing to go to his IEP teacher but he was never willing to go to his classroom he said his teacher was mean they would not switch his class. They said the other classrooms were too full. I felt like we were treated like criminals. The only thing I can say is positive about the school is Mrs. Bramer and Mrs. Wrightson and the wonderful secretary in the office who goes above and beyond. If people want to fix things at the school the parents need to ban together. I have seen children screaming in the hallway's I have seen the assistant principal grab children's hands to pull them in rooms and children hiding underneath desks in the hallway. I have never seen so many unsmiling children. The school needs to be fixed it needs a new principal a new assistant principal and it needs to listen to the parents when they have problems with teachers. They are supposed to be there to help our children not turn their backs on them.they are supposed to make school enjoyable while they're learning not make it so they don't want to go back and so they don't want to get out of your car and all they do is cry. Thank you whoever reads this and I hope that somebody will take this into consideration. I have lived in battleground since 1989 and I have gone to the schools myself just truly a disappointment.
I have a difficult time picking a star rating, as it really seems to vary with teachers. My child's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Brammer was great! However, most of my other dealings with this school have been terrible. I completely agree that they are not equipped to deal with children outside the bell curve. I have one that is below and one above average, and neither one of them will benefit from this school. They want you and your children to be the perfect drone. So if that isn't you, I would look for an alternative. With that said, some of the staff is wonderful. The principal and assistant principle really care. Battle Ground schools were probably strained by huge population boom, but when it comes to my children's education, it is imperative for success, and the schools in BG aren't the best, at least not the one my friends, family and I have gone to. I am currently looking for a way out of this school, which is difficult and a shame. I am sure just as many kids that succeed here, but ALL of the kids deserve to succeed, so choose wisely when enrolling here.
Don't judge a book by its cover! The outside of this school could use some beautification but we have lived all over the country and this school has one of the best principals and staff we have experienced yet. A couple of years ago I wasn't so pleased. This school is always keeping us informed on what's going on, the teachers are of the highest caliber, the principal seems to know every single student by name and every time school starts up again it's like going to a family reunion (a fun one :)) The front desk provides strict access to anyone entering, so bring your ID if she doesn't know you quite yet My kids love this school, their academic are appropriately challenging their teachers, and staff are gold nd truly care about the students. I highly recommend this school to anyone.
We moved to BG because we heard the elementary schools were great. We moved into the Captain Strong district. What a disaster. The school does not seem to be equipped to handle students outside the bell curve. Either the very smart or the educationally challenged. Our first grade teacher was verbally abusive and hateful to students. The principal had no answers to problems. We no longer attend Capt Strong. There is no way I could recommend this school to anyone.
