"My son just recently graduated from Benedictine. He transferred in from public school his second year. This school, literally, changed his life. He had been living under an IEP since 2nd grade, and by high school was begging for opportunities to prove that he was ""capable"". The schools would never give in, and so he requested to transfer to BCP. After his first year, he was able to take honors and AP classes, and he excelled. He had to work really hard, but the teachers supported his efforts. The leadership opportunities and life experiences at BCP aren't available in any other local public OR private school, and the camaraderie between the students is indescribable. I noticed in one review that they felt bullying was a part of BCP's ""tradition"". That is simply untrue. No one in leadership or in the faculty would tolerate bullying, and the student body as a whole wouldn't either. There is no such thing as ""perfect"", but BCP could not have been more perfect for my son. When I said that it changed his life, it literally did. Public schools were telling him that ""college may not be right for you"" and would only let him take regular and remedial classes. He graduated from BCP with highest honors, summa cum laude, with multiple college acceptances and tens-of-thousands of dollars in scholarship offers. He is now excelling in a very difficult and challenging college, and it's because of everything he learned at BCP: study habits, leadership skills, integrity, and perseverance. None of these skills would he have gained at any other high school. If you want to give your son the best access to a promising future, then BCP is really your only true choice."

My son's experience has helped him develop stronger work habits, better leadership skills, and positive relationships with others. He is more confident and more capable of solving problems. He loved the balance of academics and fun that Benedictine offered him. Coming from a large public middle school, my son thrived in the small, all-boys setting. The school helped him in every way he hoped it would.

BCP has been an outstanding experience for my son. The all boys military format has allowed him to excel academically and develop leadership skills he would never have had at a public school.

Benedictine is not very diverse in their practices, population or the way they interact with their students or parents. There are few educational opportunities outside of the campus. Students are given limited to no opportunities to take dual enrollment classes. Most teachers teach the same. There is not room for uniqueness via cultural or learning style.

Benedictine is an outstanding place for a young man to grow. Plain and simple, they build boys into men. No other school in the Richmond area offers strong academics (with a focus on science/engineering), winning athletic programs, military tradition, and moral direction at this great of a value. Benedictine is a private college preparatory school, just like Saint Christopher's and Collegiate. The end goal of sending our son to a private school, at least in our opinion, is to let him build character and get into a great university. Benedictine sends kids to Ivy League schools, Duke, Navy, West Point, Stanford, Georgia Tech, UVa, VT, and Notre Dame routinely and is the nation's top feeder school for VMI. So why pay twice as much to send him to another private school where he won't get the unique military discipline/tradition angle and he'll most likely end up losing to his friends who end up at Benedictine in sports? We didn't, we sent our boy to Benedictine, and he'll graduate this year as a well rounded young man heading to a top 25 university. It's been a great choice!
