I went to kindergarten the first year that this school opened and went all the way K-9 there. I was one of the first to experience every grade of the school, and I don't regret going there at all!! Loved my teachers and made tons of friends, it got me prepared to take harder classes in high school, including college classes. The teachers were always caring, respectful, and willing to put forth a lot of effort to help you. I always knew that i could turn to any of the teachers if I had a problem. I also had many opportunities to participate in all the school offered. I was part of Student body, Tech crew, cross country, and lots of other things. I got to know practically everyone in my grade, and the grades around me. Had a wonderful time and learned lots of great life skills! Highly recommend this school to anyone who is considering sending their kids there!

I attended Syracuse Arts Academy for nine years and absolutely loved it! The teachers take the time to know their students and help them individually. I felt prepared for high school and college courses. SAA was my dragon family.

Overall the experience has been alright. We have had experiences with some teachers that do not seem to care about teaching though and blame not having grades in on how busy their personal lives are. Everyone is busy! A teacher should not be sending out emails claiming that grading is not done due to painting a friends home over the weekend. The scheduling at the junior high is ALWAYS a mess. I have three children who have attended for nearly three years, my oldest in eighth grade. We have had to change his schedule for the past two years in junior high in order to get him out of classes he had absolutely no interest in and did not request. I also disagree with changing teachers in core subjects half-way through the school year. A core subject should be with the same teacher the entire year, an elective should change. I would also like to see more advanced classes and a different language besides Spanish. What is the point of offering Spanish I to a seventh or eighth grader if there is not a continuation of the class until high school? Basically, the student would have to start over.

We have two kids with very different educational needs. My 9 year old has ADHD and struggles to keep up, and my 7 year old is extremely gifted in academics. I've felt like the school has worked really well with the needs of my ADHD child and getting her medication to her when needed, as well as keeping us informed if she doesn't turn things in. She stays engaged in the classroom and made friends easily when she started half way through the year. We have been very pleased. We have always worked with her at home a lot, but she has progressed rather quickly since starting at SAA. For my 7 year old, we were dithering about putting him in the gifted program in the school district or skipping a grade so that he could actually learn new things at school. We ended up putting him in SAA because we felt this school could meet the needs of both our kids. Each classroom has "leveled learning" which divides kids into groups according to understanding and ability--for each subject--so that the more advanced kids can still be challenged and the ones that are behind can catch up. My son has FINALLY stopped saying "nothing" when I ask him what he learned in school that day. For example in spelling: Group 1 will just be required to know how to spell the word. Group 2 will need to know how to spell it AND the definition. Group 3 will need to know how to spell it, the definition, and how to use it in a sentence (verbally). Group 4 will need to spell it,define it, and write it in a sentence-using correct capitalization and punctuation. All groups learn the same subject matter, but each group will be held accountable for a different level of mastery. Communication has been superb--borderline excessive--on all levels. We get emails from each of the kids' teachers several times a week as well as from the administration. This is very helpful as there always seems to be something going on at the school for one reason or another. Overall, we are very pleased at the outcome for both of our children and we will be continuing there through elementary school and hopefully junior high!

My daughter loved Syracuse Arts Academy. She attended the Junior High campus for 7th grade. She dearly loved every single one of her teachers, and the administration. I did as well! Mr. Pfister & Mr. Bryant ("Mr. Matty") are hands down the best Principal and Vice Principal ever! We also were extremely well served by Jenny and LeAnn in the front office! They are an asset to this amazing school for sure! We are a military family and sadly must move on to our next assignment. If you're considering this school, trust me it's an amazing place to send your kids!!!
