I have three children at this school and I absolutely love it. The Spanish Dual Immersion program is incredible. The teachers and principal really care and are dedicated to the success of the children. Not to say everything is perfect, there have been times where I have had issues with a certain teacher or two and I have been very impressed with how the principal has dealt with my concerns. The arts program is amazing, the PTA is full of dedicated parents. So grateful for this school!

The Spanish immersion has been a great opportunity for my kids. My kids continue to test well and do well and enjoy their days. The arts at this school continue to be given attention in the forms of orchestra, a school play, dance for all kids during school hours, art nights, drama for a term during school, and music and in class art parents. My kids do not have excessive amounts of homework (minus medieval term at the end of 6th grade), and the balance of learning to experiences seems good. And the parent involvement is fantastic. Because it is a 90/10 school (90% in boundary) the parents are very involved with PTA and the school experience. There has been some teacher turnover of late, but hopefully things will be leveling out. I can't say we have loved all our teachers, but we love that each student gets 2 teachers during their day, it has certainly made it easier to find a teacher they love that year. I have had 3 kids in this school, and they are moving forward successfully.

I have three children who have attended at William Penn for the last three years. I have been very happy with our experience here. The arts instructor, Ms. Shumway is amazing. All of the kids are dancing, and loving it! I have one child enrolled in the Spanish Immersion program and two that aren't. There has been plenty of recent angst surrounding this program, and last year there was an effort by local parents to close it down. After a great amount of consideration, the administrators chose to keep it open. Since that time, they have bent over backwards to restructure the classroom instruction to allow for more integration between immersion students and their peers. I applaud the way the principal and teachers have addressed parent concerns. There aren't more loving and hard-working advocates for children anywhere than these devoted men and women. Recently a huge contingent of neighborhood volunteers has mobilized to assist the Bhutanese student population to learn English. In just a few short months, many of these kids have burst through the language barriers, and are now reading at grade level. It is a miracle in the making. I recommend Penn Elementary most highly!
