Everyone has been exceptional. My daughter had completed Evoke's Wilderness program and MSPA was selected by us as we deemed them to be the most progressive of the RTC alternatives with an emphasis to teaching to the students attributes rather than forcing a student into a strict curriculum and means of teaching. My daughter completed her last two years of high school with an exceptional GPA, has been admitted to the half dozen universities she has applied to. What was an illusionary hope 18 months ago of high school graduation and attending college has now become a reality. The twelve months did not come without angst and drama by my daughter, particularly upon her emancipation 7 months before graduation. MSPA knows how to deal with this, put things in the appropriate perspective for the student and exhibit nothing but tough love. We are blessed to have been guided to MSPA and will be forever grateful for their exceptional work!

Our daughter attended and embraced Mountain Springs Preparatory Academy’s (MSPA) program from 08/2015 through high school graduation 05/2017. It was an excellent transition program from intensive residential treatment to real life. I always describe MSPA as a place most beneficial in getting kids back on track with academics and life when only a lightly-therapeutic approach is needed. Our daughter’s academic advisor and the whole MSPA team customized her program and challenged her. She embraced the live classroom academics, concurrent enrollment with Southern Utah University, Cedar High School and Southwest Applied Technology College, the challenges and learning associated with a co-ed environment, working part-time as a volunteer veterinary technician, staying physically active with mixed martial arts, skiing, water polo, and scuba training, and preparing for college with ACT, SAT, AP coursework, college applications. She also trained as an emergency medical technician and has her advanced emergency medical technician certification. Our daughter embraced independent living in the Independent Living House at age 18 and transitioned to her own apartment for the final 8 months prior to graduation. Our daughter is mentally and physically healthy AND she is going to college! It has been a long road. MSPA truly has been a blessing to her and to her us!

School personnel did a wonderful job helping our granddaughter deal with her issues and giving her the life skills she needed to move on in her life. Good balance of oversight and freedom to grow, excellent support when mistakes were made and an academic program that prepared her very well for college.

So I was a student here and I have not liked being at this school since the day I got there. I constantly felt like I was pressured and held to a high expectation that some other kids were not. My dean did not accommodate my needs to the best of his ability and I feel let down and stressed a lot of the time. I am a girl and other girls are toxic and petty at this school. I was there for long enough to see a variety of kids and it did not change with the students who attended and left. The other girls stole my things, spread rumors and the deans and staff did not do a good job working with us all to figure it out. Kids are constantly getting away with things they shouldn't be and the environment for me was anxiety provoking and unfair. A lot of my friends here have had a countless number of problems that they didn't have before coming here. I would strongly recommend not sending your child to this school

Our daughter attended Mountain Springs Preparatory Academy from September, 2008 to June, 2009. She found herself at MSPA three months short of 18 after three months in a wilderness program and five months at a therapeutic boarding school. We were cautioned that she might choose to leave when she turned 18. Thanks to the program and staff at MSPA, when that moment came, she decided to stay not only an additional two weeks to get her high school diploma, but to stay for an entire additional semester in order to complete the MSPA MAPP program and do outside community service in Cedar City. Today our daughter has graduated college with honors with a B.A. in Psychology, with plans to continue on for a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology. She told us that the MSPA program gave her an opportunity to be independent and make her own decisions, allowing her to slowly integrate into a life beyond a tightly controlled school setting. Whatever it was, it certainly worked for her. Even though it has been five years since she was at MSPA, the school's philosophy remains unchanged and all the same critical staff members are still there, working with the same energy and dedication.
