It's been years since I graduated from DMS, but my memory of the grounds, the faculty and learning experience, accompanied by the friendships and overall satisfaction; this was a very nice school in the mid-90's and I would without a doubt enroll my child here.

Nothing but bullies and people who don't want to help the victim. This school is a joke.

There seems to be an unusual number (a handful) of angry/rude, bully-type teachers. Not sure if this is because of some new hires, for example I have been trying to reach out to a teacher for well over a week and there has been no response from him. If your child needs any additional help you will not get this from this school (Dulles Middle School) DMS. The school way of doing things is - do it my my way or highway. Poor communication, lack of accountability, poor teacher guidance and its all okay with them. you have a child that begins to struggle, you won't hear about it from a teacher or the counselor. You'll first learn of it from a progress report or a report card; even though emails and telephone numbers are readily available to the teachers. The root....they just don't care. No quality. I am surprised the school is rated 7. I would rate it 3. ~ John Walter

We came from another school district where my child attended an exemplary school. And I wish we could go back. He previously was making all A's and B's and scored above average on the STARR. Parent teacher meetings were called if he ever fell behind and teachers were always on top of things. Now at Dulles Middle School, my 6th grader struggled to make the grades. He failed 3 courses here. There was poor communication from teachers, or none at all. Zero communication from his counselor. I feel I failed as a mom, because I have to work and am always tired. But I feel the teachers failed him too. Only 1 (social studies) of his 7 teachers was in constant communication. There were never any parent teacher conferences called, no remedial meeting to even address my child's course failings, no phone calls, nothing. I was told to use Skyward for grades and homework. Only 2 of his teachers used this, so even when I tried to help, there was nothing to be found. His previous school provided planners, so the kids would write down their assignments and parents could see what needed to be done. I really wish all schools would do this. He goes to school to get an education I cannot provide him at home. I have to find a way to get him back on track. And am looking for another school for him to attend, because Dulles Middle failed my child. If I don't act, then he would fall through the cracks, because they obviously do not care. This school was a huge disappointment.
