Twain Middle School Ratings & Reviews

I was a student at this school. I am now a senior in high school so this was a while back but many of the teachers are the same and generations are getting worse so I assume the attitude is the same. The first day of middle school I was bullied and the bullying would continue until 8th grade to the very last day. I hear bullying isn't too bad at Tafolla so if anything I would recommend going over there. If it weren't for the teachers I would give this school 1 star and even that would be too nice. The teachers I had were wonderful and the only teachers I was unhappy with was a math teacher who taught Algebra 1 through the internet instead of teaching it to us herself. And since Algebra is pretty much the basis of all other math courses I have struggled and had to relearn Algebra 1. The teachers were great in there subjects.. if only they could teach them. At one time my history teacher had a breakdown and threw a desk almost out the window. Fights are constant because bullying is constant and who wouldn't want the courage to finally "take care" of their bullies. Because the administration certainly didn't. I told them about my situation and they did nothing for me.

Twain has changed A LOT in the past year! Parents are respected and appreciated, students are challenged academically, and the teachers are happier. Twain even received an award for their academic performance from the State. The principal change has been a great one! Keep it up Twain!

I have my daughter in this school and its has been the worse decision i've ever made. Bullying in this school for girls is out of hand, even several teachers have admitted that its beyond worst what they have seen in other district. The number of pregnant 6th graders has disgusted me, as well as number of 8th graders skipping class or walking halls. The principal has no regard for his students nor for the parents seeking to help their children. My child was assualted and her phone stolen by a bully, yet this bully was only suspended for one day, and when I went to speak with the principal about this, all I got was that he didn't want to hear it and passed it off to others that knew nothing of the situation. The situation worsen due to his undermining of my concern and even openly mocking me. I would never recommend this school to anyone and would rather drive across town to another school if I have too. I hope that any parent with their child currently enrolled or thinking of having them there please look at the ratings and reviews on this. It would have saved my family this undue stress if we did so.

Our family, being prior military, has attended several schools in the US. My sons, who are now in college attended schools in the NEISD and NISD. My daughter had attended school in the NEISD until we moved into the SAISD. I don't know about other middle schools in SAISD, BUT we are currently moving back to the NEISD area due to Twain M/S. This is after 4 meetings at the school in a months time. Four meetings because one teacher who scheduled two meetings was a no show. Actually 2 NO CALL/NO SHOWS! I was present and the nurse and counselor were present for all meetings and the Assist. Principal was present for the second meeting and 4th. The teacher who set up the appointments neglected to inform anyone that she wasn't attending. (I only know she didn't attend the 2nd because of an emergency she had to attend to - which turned out to be just a flat tire). Due to this teacher and the principal - he was in NO WAY helpful in the whole ordeal AND when I mentioned the Superintendent, he stated that he wouldn't be able to do anything about it anyway. This attitude is in NO Way conducive to a childs educational/emotional/physical well being!
