My kids hated this school.Let me start with the curriculum. It does deliver an advanced, challenging fast-paced curriculum so if that is something you are looking for it does have that. However, it is by no means creative or fun. It is sit in your desk, pencil and paper bookwork. Very little projects or out of the box creative teaching, despite what they tell you when you come look. Some may like that, it all depends on what kind of student you have. My kids were extremely bored. The teachers for the most part were severely lacking in my opinion. Never smiled, not much personality, talked a good game in teacher meetings but didn't deliver in the classroom. My kids even commented on how nice and sweet their teachers were to my face and how completely different they treated them in the classroom. I volunteered up there a lot and I did not like what I saw as far as how the teachers interacted with the students. Lots of fussing at them and never smiling. They all seemed bored and irritated. They for the most part seemed very average and basically taught out of the teacher's edition. Zero creativity. That wasn't the worst part though...the thing that really drove us away was the people. The whole school, staff, students, and parents are just overall not welcoming. Parents and their kids are very clique-ish and are not the least bit friendly. Some of the kids are downright mean. My very outgoing, friendly, nice child made zero friends there despite constantly trying to engage with classmates. We're not even finished with the first year at our new school and my child has made tons and tons of new friends. My child also has tons of friends at home in our neighborhood so I know it was not my child's fault...it was the kids at Westlake. They are snobby and are not interested in welcoming any newcomers. One child even tripped my child just to be funny. My child fell and got hurt and I never received a phone call or email about it. The bully had no consequences. I would never have known about it had my child not eventually told me about it.Don't waste your money...keep looking. Or give public school a shot. We were terrified of it but my kids absolutely love it and are thriving. Their teachers are phenomenal. Curriculum is very creative and caters to all learning styles. Just don't waste your time and money on Westlake.

My children have been at Westlake for several years now. We love it. They learn so much and build on that foundation every year. My husband and I make a lot of sacrifices for our children to receive a good education and we could not have found a better school for this. We are very happy that they play such a big part of their education. I love being able to volunteer, talk to teachers & principal as needed and be involved in the decisions made for the school.

This school doesn't have much value... you're truly just a number, as they are loading up on students as fast as they can. The receptionist is just plain rude, the teaching staff is weak. What a shame.

"We moved to this school from another small Lutheran School in another state. Our children are A students and non-special needs. We stayed at Westlake for 6 months and then decided to leave because it lacked value. There is nothing spectacular worth spending the money on. We have seen excellent education, teachers and leadership in the past and this school just does not make the cut. Its leadership from the top down LACKS: vision, values especially ""Christian"" , direction. strong leadership and management. The classes are small and Westlake claims to be ""Christian""...those are the two claims that attracted our family to the school. The small classes do not mean that your child gets any better of an education then a public school or anywhere else. The teachers and cirriculum are as average as they come. As for the Christian aspect, the kids learn a bible verse every week, are quizzed on it and go to a 30 minute ""chapel"" in the gym once a week. The leaders, kids and parents are no more ""Christian"" then anywhere else...in fact our opinion would be they are less Christian like. Also, another big point was the lack of technology. The kids work on a computer once a week and if you come from a STEM or STEAM school like we did, you know the importance of technology and its impact for the future. In the higher grades (6+, ) there is an iPad they use but there is not IT infrastructure set up. Yep thats right there is NO IT infrastructure set up.The school may be all clean and shiny but it is superficial. The school is old and outdated. We tried to give feedback in our ""Exit interview"" with the Principal Gerber. It was hardly a professional exit interview. She just wanted to fight with us and tell us how wrong we were...it was quite sad to see such poor leadership from the top level but then that would explain a lot too."

My children have been attending this school for six years. They have strong academics and great, caring teachers. The extracurricular and sports offerings continue to grow each year. We are super excited about the beautiful, new middle school building that will open in the fall of 2016 for the 6-8th graders. I love that we have a great private school option in West Houston now!
