St. Mary's is a great place for my kids. The leadership is caring. Academic standards are high. Students who have graduated talk about being far better prepared academically for high school than their public school counterparts. Teachers care for and challenge students. My child's junior high teachers often drop by during after school care to check on them and find out if they need help with homework. Faith and service are both a big part of it. Service projects are left up to the child to follow a personal interest. The electives they have are gym, Spanish, art, music and technology. They have after school clubs. There are competitive sports, a soccer program, orchestra, chess, musical theater, engineering and robotics, and service club. We're very happy with the well-rounded quality of education here.

I felt the need to write this review to state a different experience than some previous reviewers. Certainly things change from year-to-year, but right now I can think of 6 current teachers whose kids attend the school (some of those have for several years now) and 2 whose grandkids do. Also, the teachers at St. Mary are highly qualified. In fact, at least 6 of the current teachers have Master's degrees. I have heard stories from other parents over the years of students leaving for public school but returning to St. Mary the next year because they were not challenged in the public school. Also, graduates have reported back that they were very well prepared to be successful in AP classes at local high schools. It is family-focused and welcomes parent involvement inside and outside the classroom. The small class size is a huge plus, and the teachers are always available to parents and responsive via email or phone. The school isn't perfect and isn't the right fit for every family, but I didn't want people considering it to be discouraged by some comments that may be uninformed or out-of-date. I encourage you to visit the school and find out for yourself if it provides what you are looking for your child!

There was too little teaching and too much copy work, busy work, rote memorization and look at the example and do the rest on your own type of work. Students are over-critiqued, over-graded and undertaught leading to stress and unhappiness. Then the unnecessary amount of homework and ineffective tutoring creates a very poor use of the kids time. Finally, several teachers do indeed seem unhappy all the time, never cracking a smile, and yelling a lot according to my student. These are generally really good kids, there’s no reason for teachers to have such punitive critical over controlling behavior toward them. The principal is so positive and upbeat but the experience in some of the classrooms couldn’t be more opposite. I’m glad we made a change, the school wasn’t working for us.

This school is not up to par as compared to public school. The teachers are also under qualified in many cases. They don't have near the amount of electives, either.Academically they are behind what the public schools are doing in all subjects except maybe grammar and spelling.Ironically, almost all teachers who have kids of their own who would be of age to attend there, DON'T. They all send their kids to public school. Didn't bode well for me.

Great environment for learning.Very loving and nurturing, teaching good values and focused education. A little under staffed, but they make the best of it. My daughter is in her 3rd year of attendance and is very happy there.
