My experience at this school has been awful since the beginning. The only one who made the experience go from awful to okay, was Ms. Brightwell and her compassion to what my family has experienced there so far. She actually is a GOOD teacher, but the treatment here both by school and district sadly overshadows all good these teacher do.

I am really shocked by some of these negative reviews. We have had a great experience at this school with our daughter. Every teacher she had was engaged, caring, and helpful. All interactions with the principal and office staff were also professional and excellent. This is a public school, and the GT program is limited in elementary, but we were satisfied that our daughter is challenged. There are also extra curricular activities like choir, robotics, running club, etc that are available. I highly recommend this school.

They care more about their teachers than the students. They always send annoying emails asking for gifts and donations that are not all related to school necessities. I mean isn't a salary and being paid to be off during the summer enough? I have had several issues with the teachers not putting effort or having patience with our son. He is a smart kid, and he doesn't require much help, but yelling at a student because they ask for help is not appropriate. They have the most basic curriculum I've ever seen. They only teach Texas History here, and due to that; my son doesn't even know much about other states or countries except for the things he's seen on television or what we've taught him. Same goes for Astronomy, they've only learned about the phases of the moon, so I've had to teach him about the solar system and the other planets out there. I'm surprised they aren't even teaching the kids to be multilingual, especially since we live in a diverse area with more Hispanics than anyone else.I am so glad we are homeschooling our son while my wife does travel nursing. The homeschool program is so much more advanced than public school. He is excited to have a more broad variety of studies. He's even taking on Mandarin language studies and learning about the culture and history of other countries. God forbid they teach them anything unrelated to Texas here, since everyone thinks that this is the greatest state in the nation, lol whatever! At least he will get to travel and learn first hand about all of the states in our country; instead of being taught that Texas is the only state that has any history. I've even bought a telescope to show him that the moon isn't the only object in space lol.The teachers really hold the parents to a higher standard here, like we are supposed to be helping teach our kids or something. What do they get paid for if we gotta do half the work?! Some of us have to work and support our families, we can't just quit our jobs to do the teacher's job. I understand most of the mothers in League City are stay at home moms, but my wife is a Nurse, she loves her career, so she can't just be lazy and stay at home. Sorry we aren't up to your standards GoForth lol.

School does not do weekly spelling words---never heard of an elementary school not promoting spelling.Teachers and PRINCIPAL are only interested in their yearly test scores for Texas...not teaching the kids to learn! Very glad Betsy Devos is the new Secretary of Education and promoting school choice...want to relocate my children to another elementary school.Do not recommend this school or staff, especially the Principal.

My children are new students to this school so I can not give as much of an informative review as a native Goforth family can. However I can attest to our experience as new comers. Mid-year (January 2013) my children (1st and 3rd Graders) made the transfer as new students to Goforth so they have been there for approx. six months or so and will be returning this year as well. From the beginning with phone conversations about our transition, Goforth staff was EXCELLENT in answering questions & guiding us through the process. In person, they were slightly less friendly , but they were still courteous and assisted us. The Teacher that my daughter had was less than impressive. She didn't seem to 'get' that my daughter was new and required extra guidance. My daughter felt 'lost' a lot. There was also another issue with this Teacher that did not sit well with me. When meeting with the Principle to address some concerns she was VERY attentive and understanding to my position, and I left feeling better. All interactions with the Principle were OUTSTANDING! My sons 2nd Grade Teacher was probably above 'average', and welcomed my son and worked with him well.
