We moved from out of state and I did some research prior to coming here on all the elementary schools. I'm so glad we came here!! Negley has exceeding our expectations. I have a kinder and 1st grader and they LOVE it here. Mrs. Sparks is the best kindergarten teacher we could ever ask for. Both of my kids have loved the extracurricular programs and after school clubs. Running Club and Art Club was the highlight of their week. Fantastic staff who allow parental involvement in the classroom. Definitely recommend this school.

I am very impressed by this community school. My son attended here long ago when it first opened and it seems as though the school just gets better and better. My daughter is currently attending Negley and I have to say that the staff, and administration has always been very supportive. If I have an issue to discuss, I call the school directly. I've met with teachers and administration a number of times. AND although we don't always agree I have to remind myself that I am just one parent. AND I don't know what goes on behind the scenes. I trust that the campus is doing what is right for kids and what is in the kids' best interest. I love the morning assemblies, although I know that the school has gotten flack from other parents about them.... they are a great time for students to interact and get the same message. I know my daughter remembers those messages as opposed to the ones that were done over the intercom in class... she couldn't remember anything because they had started morning work. I also think teachers need that extra time to work and get ready for the day. Other schools either don't open until 7:20 or they make kids sit in the halls waiting or in the gym anyway, so why not start the day with an assembly! This is a very welcoming campus. With the rise in safety issues in our world the campus has had to crack down on policies- but also has to balance allowing families to visit classes, lunch etc... they have done an excellent job of making a school feel both safe and welcoming. I love this campus-

My daughter attended Nelgey from K - 2nd and those first two years were wonderful! The teachers were amazing, the front of the house office staff were ones you could count on, and the parent involvement was wonderfully overwhelming :) All of that is still very true as of today and the only exception is the new principal. I understand it must be hard to come in and take the reins but, changing too much so quickly within such a tight knit community isn't always the best plan of action. The parental and community involvement should have been continued to be welcomed with open arms! We, as parents, should feel we can continue to speak our mind to our school officials when we see fit. Educating our next generation should continue to be a joint effort of both the school staff and the parents at home. Let us enjoy and praise our children's accomplishments during awards ceremonies and enjoy those times we come to eat lunch with them! Anyways, I moved to the neighborhood after researching which elementary school was the best in the area and Negley is BY FAR THE BEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN KYLE!!!

DO NOT send your SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD to this school. My 3 yr old autistic child attended here for 3 months. During that time she suffered ahead injury and the staff lost her (she is non verbal). The school then illegally refused to provide ST and OT to my child without classroom participation. The ARDs were a joke in which everyone just agreed with the one person on the committee. I was told it was the school's decision regarding what is best for my child. I had no say in her IEP. I was told all their way or my child would receive no services. We home school now due to this horrendous experience. I have an older child in 3rd grade here as well. She has learned nothing this year and is just slipping through the cracks.

Negley has had its ups and downs. In 2015 it has gone down. Teacher attitudes have been very adversarial against the parents who have supported them. Not all teachers are this way until you get to the highest grade level. The front office staff is rude and temperamental. Academically there are definitive lines draw between the haves and have nots. In the higher grades if your child is one who flies under the radar they will be ignored. I wish I could say better things about this school because I know there are wonderful teachers who work hard and really help the kids but it is sad to see the administrative side of the school derail the good.
