My son is going into 4th grade, and has been at St Thomas since Pre-K. We have had a very positive experience for the following reasons:--Church-School Family provides an environment where my family is part of something greater than ourselves. My child is known by every member of faculty and staff, and has friendships with children at nearly every grade level.--Smaller class sizes allow our dedicated, experienced, highly-skilled teachers to encourage my child to excel in his areas of strength, and spend extra time with him when he is struggling, so that even in his weakest areas, he will perform above grade level. Every child is respected as an individual, which provides the felt safety needed to build confidence and foster a love of learning.--There is focus on executive function and emotional intelligence. Kids don’t just learn rote memorization. They are encouraged to think for themselves, advocate for themselves and others, and build leadership skills.--Daily chapel provides a sense of community as well as Christian education. There is an expectation that all people—students, teacher, staff, parents—are to be treated with dignity and respect. This expectation is so strong that, when we see kids not behaving this way in other venues, my child comments that certain words or behaviors would not be tolerated at St Thomas.

My daughter is known and celebrated and encouraged and pushed by every member of the faculty and staff. Our faculty and staff allow my daughter to chase the educational rabbits of her interest, within reason, and are open to expanding their lesson plans for the sake of expanding not only learning, but curiosity while exceeding state level competitors and benchmarks. My daughter is given responsibility and mentorship, even as a 4 year old and kindergartener, as a reader, story teller and illustrator, actor, and cookie seller.Faculty and staff make time for my daughter to dictate her work and show her illustrations and affirm her learning and ask questions of interest. There is a community cheering her on and tracking her progress and celebrating her interest.St thomas celebrates virtues through story and song that come home on a regular basis without artifical prodding. The chapel program and integration of it by faculty is real and meaningful to our family.St thomas is an extended family for us, where faculty and staff notice and attend birthday parties and grandparents visiting, where grandparents and parents and friends are invited to lunch with their students, and where fellow students and parents equally watch out for and support one another.

Disappointment all around. I think they should pay for tutors for their alumni who end up struggling in public school.

The school has been a fantastic place for my child to receive an education. The teachers really care for the students and the entire staff helps create a safe and loving environment for the kids so that they can feel secure and maximize their learning potential. We tried some other pre-schools and found that the first priority of the leadership was not the kids (it was profit and high test scores). St. Thomas had the right set of priorities and values that we were looking for and we have been there ever since. My child will graduate from St Thomas in a couple years and I know we will miss it, along with the great teachers.
