Both of my children attend Sherwood. we couldn't have had a better experience. They have been doing this long time and the school is well run, with great attention to stewarding the Montessori method and of their school environment which is warm and so immersive for the kids. Both barely think of it as school and they get up every morning with enthusiasm to go. What a great experience.

We started in this school in the toddler class and decided to stay in the school past their pre-school classroom because of their low student to teacher ratios. Their 10:1 ratio offers each child so much more attention than a 22+:1 class ratio found in traditional schools. They get so much more done during school hours that there's no need for daily homework in the elementary years! We have loved this school and the experience it provides for our family! It's not a flashy/fancy school but rather homey/earthy and truly focused on the individual child. We are fascinated by both language & math in the Montessori curriculum (excellent paths for visual/sensory learners.) We have also appreciated that conflict resolution is handled between the children (of course parents are welcome to support their child if need be) but children are encouraged to settle disputes on their own. We also value the science based curriculum for the history of the earth lessons. While it may conflict with religious perspectives, we welcome the differing view points as means for discussion and allow the child to make the decision for themselves. Overall we would definitely recommend this school! PS - the school goes through 6th grade (not 5th as this site suggests.) The Montessori classrooms are always 3-year spans in early childhood & elementary so 3-6 yr olds, 6-9 and 9-12 are the different classes.

Our experience differs from the other reviewers. We sought an enlightened environment but instead have seen a plateau in the development of our child. The bi yearly evaluations are nice but in comparing their list to what we do at home, there was a disconnect in terms of gauging abilities, behavior and academic skills. Teachers make all the difference and we just didn't see that spark that inspires. Also, the school is sadly not very multicultural. It does seem to respect all religions and have not felt 'out of place'. However there came a moment we heard a comment from our young one and it was telling. We asked about anything new that happened throughout his day. He responded that there was a new student with a brown face. The minute that happened, it made me realize many things, one of which is that we needed to find a different school. Lastly, Make no mistake that private schools like this one are about the bottom line so be very careful in committing as tuition is their life blood and there are no holds barred if you stray from their agreement.

This is a great Montessori school where kids get the chance to become independent. Sometimes they can be a little too rigid with the rules but overall I am extremely happy with the staff and the way kids are treated. I would definitely recommend this school.

My son goes to sherwood forest montessori. It is a real nice environment and no hype. You get a clear feedback every 2 months with nothing held back. If ever I want to move from this school,it is only if I do not beleive or understand montessori system. So far I have liked it but I have to see about if his personality fits with montessori system of learning.
