Ascension has been wonderful for our family. Our child loves his teachers and the entire Ascension Family.

Two of my children attended this school for many years. This is a fairly small school that offers a family-like atmosphere. If you call the main office, they will know who you are. Moreover, you will get to know the names of all the children in your child’s class each year. You will also get to know many of the families through the sports programs as well as school functions (recitals, plays, rodeo day, class parties, etc.).Importantly, the school promotes social, emotional and spiritual growth, in addition to academic growth. Children learn the importance of good character and the need to give back to the community. My children blossomed at this school. There is a proverb about how a young tree that starts to grow crooked never ends up growing straight. This school clearly helped ensure that my children grew “straight.”The class sizes are small. My children often had classes with 8 – 12 students. In terms of private schools in Houston, the tuition is very reasonable. In short, I would not hesitate to recommend this school to anyone looking to send his or her child to a small private school in West Houston. P.S. Naturally, I looked at the one-star reviews for the school. In terms of the curriculum, I know that the school routinely reviews its curriculum to ensure that it is current. If you call the head of school, she can speak to you at length on this topic if you want reassurance. Moreover, my two children consistently performed well on the annual standardized testing and were ahead of most of their classmates upon moving to a new school. Another one-star review cites bullying. While no school is immune from bullying, this is a small Christian school with a very favorable staff to student ratio, so bad student behavior is less likely to go unnoticed. Neither of my children ever raised the issue of bullying with me during their lengthy stay at the school.

I was not Fond of this School when I came here! The kids would always Bully me and the Faculty would do Nothing!!!!!!! When you do work, You don't do it as a class you just do it by yourself!!!!!!!!!!! They would give you different Books. For Math they use a Grade level above your grade level which its always hard to Learn! Then I decided to Leave this school and go back to my District!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter is in the PK3 program and I have been very happy. She is learning important social and behavioral skills that will serve her well for the remainder of her life. I am also very happy with the diversity of this school and the significant parental involvement. A perfect community of people working hard to ensure the best education for our children. I plan to keep my daughter here through 5th grade and pray that they decide to add a middle school to AES!

Ascension Episcopal School has long been recognized as a school that stands out not only for its academic curriculum, but also for the importance we place on developing social skills and building character among our students. Our purpose is to develop the child intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and socially. It is in a child's formative years that a love for learning develops, and Ascension Episcopal offers the opportunity to embrace and enjoy that adventure. Ascension Episcopal School is a family community committed to academic excellence. Through the close cooperation of parents, faculty and administration, we foster a nurturing environment, developing the individual potential and ability of each child. We encourage enthusiasm for learning, confidence in pursuing school tasks independently and respect for others while working cooperatively. If you trust us with your child's education, we promise to teach your child reading, writing and arithmetic and we will treat them with respect. We will hold them accountable for their actions and demand that they be respectful and use their manners. I highly recommend this school to everyone.
