The worse experience ever, I wouldn’t and won’t recommend this school, because I know I didn’t care when they lost my kids ip pen when they thought they needed it I had to rush from work to take the one I had and they said well we would of used an expired ip pen they had, they lost her prescription cream, again didn’t have it when my daughter needed it, in my kids medicine they mix expired pills with the new ones, they never reported any incidents the kids had I had to find out through the kids. They got hit, bit, scratched, spit on, slapped several times and nothing ever got done they wouldn’t take the kids out of that class expected me to be ok leaving my kids with a teacher basically letting me know she can’t handle her class. She said that they have a lot of kids and can’t watch everything that happens, teacher lie, overall I can keep going on but basically they don’t do anything to defend your kid and just let them get hit. I was told well she didn’t cry so I guess if the kids don’t cry when they get hit it doesn’t hurt them and doesn’t matter.

My daughter currently attends Odyssey Academy but it is not working out. She has been bullied by kids and her 1st grade teacher (teacher made my daughter clean up another student's feces and nothing was done) and I am at my wits end. I have had to continually fight the school on a few issues, the most recent is her being made to walk laps around the playground in high heat a few weeks after having surgery. My attempts to make the school understand my concerns as her mother is met with sarcasm and patronizing tones. I am in the process of sending my daughter to an alternative school. I refuse to allow my child to continue to bear the brunt of a poor excuse for a charter school. It's such a shame because it started out with such promise and a child that loved school. Now I am left with a sad child that hates school and is afraid of teachers.

This school is very, "Click-ish". Majority of the hispanic staff act very unprofessional and they all have their own children there as students; their spouses and boyfriends also work there. There's alot of bullying and favoritism. They favor each others children for clubs, activities & sports. They are not very friendly to new people who come to their school, because they are used to the same children (their own), year after year & year. The front desk secretary is very unprofessional when she answers incoming calls. She always shouts over the phone when she picks up and as you are trying to explain to her why you called, she is laughing and carrying on a conversation with someone else there next to her. (Very rude) These staff members kids are mean and ugly towards other kids who are not in their same league. When I went to check on my 11 year old daughter one day, I saw & heard a group of kids during PE calling my daughter ugly, curse words in spanish as the PE coach was looking away, talking to another female coach that was there. These people think that I don't know what is being said or understand, but I do. I am mexican too and I understand that kind of language. There is no reason for other children to be acting like that to another. This school does not set good examples by allowing faculty & staff to all be related to each other thru work and as a student. Because they all cover for each others children and each other. There ought to be rules against that, like all other businesses, where your spouse and children cannot be in the same place that you work. My daughter will not be coming back.

My child s teacher at the day care strongly recommended Odyssey. We visited several schools, including GISD and private schools, and met teachers before starting. My child chose Odyssey. My child likes the teacher from day 3 of the school. Odyssey has small number of students each grade. It has a family-like atmosphere. They have chance to play together. The students know each other even they are in the different grades. We meet school friends everywhere on the island, stores, churches, and events. Odyssey has an after school care at the school. We don t have to worry about the child taking a wrong school bus to go after school. We can meet and talk with the teachers every day when we pick up. We revisited the other schools during the first year of school for their festivals. The larger school had larger parent participation and more fun things to play. It was attractive for me. But, my child still likes Odyssey the best!
