Gainesville High School Ratings & Reviews
I would rate my experience as sub par. Gainesville likes to have all these programs that are supposed to benefit the kids that want to learn and be better, but it is mainly smoke and mirrors. They spend a lot of their time lowering their standards for the majority of the school that doesn't see past graduation.
After graduating I can say I liked the people I met because I had a good group of friends but the education was below average. But there really isn't a whole lot of choices at Gainesville. Better to move to a bigger city and send your kid to a 4A or 5A school and if they aspire to be great they will rise up to the challenge. Gainesville can get you into a lot of good colleges in texas because of the top 10% rule but you wont be prepared. Dual credit helps but the classes at NCTC are really easy as well.
Anonymous ratings with zero accountability and 100% hearsay web posts. This is how I will judge where I educate my child? GHS is the best High School in North Texas, if you value, collegiate academies, fine arts opportunities, new facilities and cutting edge technology. Surrounding districts can barely keep the lights on, literally. GHS kids have the chance to graduate NCTC BEFORE GHS with the dual-credit opportunities. Find out for yourself!
I have two boys one attended Gainesville the other Callisburg and I highly recommend Callisburg over Gainesville. Unfortunately the make up of the student population is somewhat of the problem. The majority of students do not really care about education and my child found himself bored and unchallenged and had a hard time learning anything. I really regret not transferring him. We got through it in the top but what a waste of time
A lot of these ratings are from years ago I noticed. As a parent if you are reading this, I would invite you to go visit the school, visit their website, find out for YOURSELF of how this is the best school district in Cooke County. This is 2015. Surrounding districts do not have the funding, personnel or foresight to provide the opportunities GHS has in place right now. From a Collegiate Academy to almost 30 different programs to receive a certification and a direct route to employment. My daughter was in floral design, theater and debate. This school value Athletics, Academics and they have the best counseling team in North Texas. NCTC is in their back yard and they have taken full advantage of that. I believe they even received a distinction from the TEA for Post-Secondary readiness. The proof is in the pudding, not in some rumor you overheard 6 years ago.
