Disappointing and frustrating. There is a different set of rules for those who do and those who don’t attend their church. I selected this school not only for the money, but because this was a small faith based institution. However the size of classes were so small that they combine different grade levels at once. So when the teacher is working on 8th grade curriculum; then the 7th graders were supposed to do their work. I am not sure how effective this would have been. I am sure it was a bit distracting.

I would rate 0 if they had that option.

My children started attending TBTA in Sept. 2012. One in Elementery and one in Secondary. We do not attend the church. (So we are not part of the insider clique that some people have refered to.) However, we have found the students and teachers have shown Christ-like love to our children. My children have been excepted. The school uses Abeka curriculum which is a solid Christian College Prep curriculum. The staff members go above and beyond, what is called for to help the students. So teachers offer help class and or tutoring. All of the SAT tests which my children have taken since attending TBTA they have scored in the top rankings for there grades. The school has a low tuition as part of a ministry to the families. Because, of the low tuition the school is not able to offer all the bells and whistles that some of the more expensive private schools can offer. It is true not all teachers have a degree, but they all have a heart for teaching. Several of the teachers have degrees, or the credits needed to have earned a degree. In addition, the school is Accredited and the teachers have earned a certificate through the accreditation program. On top of it this summer the staff completed Abeka Curriculum training at Pensacola Christian College. As far as extra costs over and above tuition. The enrollment fee not only cover text books it also covers the first set of standard school supplies. This is the first school I have ever heard of that offers school supplies as part of the enrollment fee. If your child plays sports there is a fee (for league fees, uniforms, equipment, and gas money to get to away games). The school requires participation in one major fundraiser. And also requires parents to donate or volunteer time for various school activities. However, you may opt. Out of these things for a fee... Like all other private schools I have attended or my children have attended, they have several optional fundraisers for example $3 dress down days. Like all schools of course they ask for donations for class parties and some field trips have a fee etc. If you are looking for a school who cares about the spiritual growth and wellbeing of your child, has low student to teacher ratios, a good solid curriculm, and a low tuition. Please prayerfully consider TBTA for your student.

My kids attended this 'advanced' school. Both were tested independently of the school at the end of the year and despite earning high marks at Trinity Academy, they were found to be very behind their peers at other schools. I was shocked that our money and trust was spent for nothing. In response to the comment that parental involvement is key, I agree. But when the principal hangs up on you and your attempts to contact the teacher are ignored, it gets difficult. But still, my wife volunteered, attended every function and visited the school frequently.

TBTA clearly states in their handbook that it's school is a ministry & extension of its church. We found that this means exactly what is says. Outsiders (you don't attend their church) will have a hard time working with the cliquish & immature leadership. Rules are not enforced equally. Our child unfortunately fell behind academically . The tuition is cheap, which means they cannot afford to hire qualified teachers. Teachers are overworked and under paid. The good thing is that many good christian families have left this school and have bonded through the horrible experience.
