My experience at this school was a waste of a year. Their foreign language program is a waste of time due to the fact that it hasn’t improved since the start of the school.

We started out with VT from its start. I struggled keeping my son there but I wanted to give them a chance. However, he was not learning and at times was mistreated by the leadership and teachers. I pulled him mid-semester. He struggled at his new school because he was so behind. Thankfully his academics are way up now and I see him enjoying learning. He liked VT because of the very loose environment but the things they would do to him started making him miserable. I was an involved parent who voiced my concerns and I believe the leadership began to take it out on my child. VT families are a community and I liked that, but the favoritism shown to kids of staff, leaders and founders was horrible and obvious. My son wanted me to work there so he could be a "staff kid". I hoped they would improve, but I've talked to students, parents and some teachers who have left because of the environment. If you just want your child to be at school without the grind of learning, send him/her to VT. If you want learning to occur, don't send them there. Good luck.

If it were not for VT we would have definitely moved out of Cedar Hill. My kids never complain about hating school. They enjoy it. There is more responsibility on the kids and parents to be pro-active about getting their work done as there is not a lot of hand holding. For some that may be an issue but I like the fact that my children are learning to be responsible for their own success.

School reimagining education in Texas. A school founded by teachers with a great mission. Community focus and family feel. Education is full of experiences and not just tests.

The school is a joke. They do not have the resources to provide the children with any extra curriculum activities. They do not have a gym, or a playground. They are trying to offer sports but the parents have to fund everything. They have to practice at churches or parks and the parents also have to pay for memberships to a local gym to practice basketball. The games are never at their school because of a lack or facilities and you often have to drive 45 minutes to balch springs to their games for flag football or soccer. They do not have buses, transportation, or even a library. They do not give out homework so my guess is when the kids get to college they will fail because colleges give out plenty of homework. If you move your child to another school, expect them to behind their peers, because other schools will operate differently and be more focused on education and grades. They try to sell the kids that they are great and try to get them involved in planning but they just can't support what they are selling. They promise the world to kids but are short on delivering results. They also lack communication and consistency. They are very click ish and they do seem to have their favorite parents and students who assist them in their development. You will constantly be asked to fund everything they offer, and always need volunteers to clean up. Currently they are asking parents and students on their Facebook page to donate plants and flowers, mulch and to landscape the grounds. They often ask the older kids to move furniture or to come clean the school. The only reson some people on here are praising VT is because they are too scared for their kids to attend cedar hill public schools. Realisticly, the public schools are more organized, have better communication, resources and can offer more programs and classes to the kids.
