Bryan Collegiate High School Ratings & Reviews

Bryan Collegiate is definitely a challenging school; however, as a student, I can honestly say the school is not as great as some parents seem to believe and not as terrible as some students at other schools seem to think. Yes, it does offer an amazing opportunity that most other schools are not able to, but it does have some faults. For example, as previously stated in a rating, Bryan Collegiate does well in regards to keeping students away from crime and drugs. The crime part may be true and the students may be sheltered more from drugs by attending Collegiate, but I can truthfully say that I have seen a lot of drug usage. With that said, the students who are concerned more about hanging out and smoking rather than completing school work do not typically graduate from Collegiate. There are many students though that find a way to balance their social life (including partying and drugs) and academics. Overall, I would say Collegiate is above average, but it is not yet where it needs to be.

As a parent, I love Bryan Collegiate. The teachers are dedicated and awesome. They strive to keep me informed with my son through emails and phone calls, from his grades to his behavior. This school really cares about the kid and my son actually loves to go to school because of the wonderful teachers and great friends he has made. According to him, his friends have the dubbed the school Nerdvana LOL! A B/CS probation officer told me that next to Harmony, Collegiate is the best school in Bryan/College Station in regards to keeping kids away from crime, drugs, and gangs (CS has the money to cover it all up). It is ALOT of work on the students part and also for the parent to stay involved to help them through. But after 4 years it is all worth it! Great Job BCHS!!!!!

There is still a sharp contrast between Bryan and College Station and the "haves and the have nots. Texas TEA gave BISD the lowest rating possible in late 2013 placing it in the bottom 7% of schools in Texas. Most people in this area will say that the public schools are better in College Station than in Bryan and to some extent this is true Socioeconomically the difference between Bryan and College Station is whether you are among the professors and professionals associated with the four year university based in College Station. Most of the university based educators or professors and professionals live in elite College Station where the best schools are located. The majority of residents in Bryan tend to be working class on welfare or below where a higher percentage of minority, lower socioeconomic slice of the community live. To this end if you can not afford to live in College station this school is your only hope if trapped in the Bryan school system.

I love this school so much! I transferred here from Bryan High School and have fallen in love. The school offers so many different opportunities for students, allowing them to pursue whatever career or life decision they make. I highly recommend this school to anyone! Not to mention the teachers are wonderful and actually care about the students, even what goes on in our daily lives.

BCHS offers students from all academic backgrounds the opportunity to earn 60+ college credit hours while completing requirements for the Distinguished Achievement high school diploma. Students receive tremendous support to help them be successful, but it should be noted that the decision to attend an early college high school should be made by the student. If a student is not willing to work very hard, this would not be the school for him/her.
