As a parent, I see my kids grow and blossom. The exterior of the school is frighteningly old but the teachers (especially Mr. Martir) show the true beauty.

This is our first year at St Joseph. Catholic School in Baytown and we are very pleased with the staff, education and religious teachings. I love that every Friday the students attend Mass and parents are encouraged to attend as well. I've attended a few masses and I am pleased that Father Edmond asks the children to participate when asked questions about the teachings. The students learn the importance of mass itself, to include but not limited to , behavior in mass, participation by being part of the congregation, participating in choir, readers, bringing up the gifts, and/or alter servers. All these areas teach the children values, morality, and respect. Secondly, I like the Student / teacher ratio. The smaller class environment allows the children to learn and get the 1-on-1 attention or help, if needed. Thirdly, is the after school program from 3-5:30 PM. This after school care is not only beneficial for parents who work, but also inexpensive and the after-school teachers are there to help with homework! Then there is Prayer Circle every morning. Prior to beginning class,. students, parents and teachers gather around to pray, pledge to the flags, recognize birthdays and acknowledge achievements. This is a great way to start the morning!Another great thing about the school is that religious classes are taught everyday which gives students the chance to obtain knowledge about the Bible and the Love that God has for us. Music class, taught once a week gives students the opportunity to expand their cognitive level by memorizing songs and hymns. Students also have the option to join the choir, whom sing at Friday Mass. I can't forget about all the fun events outside of school hours throughout the year. Parents and students are encouraged to participate and/or volunteer at fall festival, Christmas play, Christmas parade, Steps-4-Students, church bazaar, and many more events. By participating, students have opportunity to enjoy themselves outside of class and raise funds for the school at the same time.Overall, St Joseph has been a wonderful experience for my girls (Pk3 & 5th grade). We would highly recommend St Joseph to all our friends and family.

St joseph. Catholic School in Baytown has its positives but it does have room to improve. That is for the reason I rated 4/5. Postive benefits: 1. Mass every Friday for students which parents are encourage to participate where children learn the importance of mass, how to behave in mass, and participate in mass by being part of the congregation, choir, readers, bringing up the gifts, or alter servers. Which teaches the children values, morality, and respect 2.Student / teacher ratio is smaller- great for students whom need a small class enviorment to learn 3. After school program from 3-6pm which is beneficial for parents who work 4. Prayer circle every morning prior beginning class where parents are encourage to participate which gives student, staff, and parents the opportunity to reflex and pray on the importance of life which gives one a positive mind set to start for the day. 5. Religious class everyday which gives students the opportunity to enrich their knowledge about the Bible and the Love that God has for us. 6. Music class once a week which gives students the opportunity to expand their cognitive level by memorizing songs and hymns 7. Parent- teacher conference twice a year which gives parents an opportunity to learn and view what their child is working on and how the child can improve 8. Fun events out side of school hours throughout the year where parents and students are encourage to participate and/or volunteer such as- fall festival, Christmas parade, church bazaar, steps 4 students, and Christmas play. 9. Fun events/activities/ programs students ( depending on grade) are able to participate or view such religious retreats, view play, view fireman/truck, view barn animals. and other field trips. Which gives students an opportunity to enjoy themselves outside of class. 10 students ( depending on grade) are able to receive their 1st communion sacraments and prepare for their sacrament during religious class. But I do believe that St Joseph could improve academically by ( some suggestions): having "one on one" time with students; offering "inclusion" or "small groups" for students who may need more help; have a special education program; give individual assesments to each student at the beg. Of yr and come up w an individual growth plan w parent to help child suceed n reach full potential

This is a horrible school. The curriculum is below what it should be, and the staff seem unqualified to teach.
