My largest issue is that it's kinda small and I cannot find others with same interests and barely anyone with the same ethnicity, yeah it may sound like a politically biased "issue" but really what I'm trying to say is that I can't really fit my personal puzzle into groups (since it's niche) because of it's size (this should be fixed in the future since this is a fast growing development by the way), other than that; I moved here for educational opportunity and because family members live close by, the last time I have ever touched Abilene was in winter 2011 in order to visit family members which means that I never grew up/got to know anyone prior at all. Despite differences in personality and opinion, I feel very welcomed and a lot more comfortable than my last school. They have helped me catch up into this new and amazing educational system after leaving a corrupt and failed education system; yeah it's taking months, but I do really feel like I am really learning! The homework policy is very reasonable since it reviews what you need to understand (as it fits all learning types) and the people are very helpful in helping you through your troubles of understanding the material. Overall, the school is amazing but I nicked off one star since it's too adapted into people who already live here (don't worry, they don't bully "outsiders" at all) and because it's socially boring for a niche person (like myself) which pushes you to go to the internet to talk to people which isn't good in the 2010s especially with less niches online (the last resort). If you want amazing education and friendly people, then come here, it was worth the stresses of moving!

Wylie is a great school, it is very friendly and has a welcoming community. Good athletics programs, with friendly and helpful teachers.

We moved to Abilene last school year and purposely bought a home in the Wylie school district so our son could go to high school there. He was going to be a freshman, and anyone's first year of high school can be difficult. Wylie High School made it even worse. The students were not welcoming at all, as they have all grown up together. There is no diversity amongst the student body, and basically every student there was the same. I found the Wylie community as a whole to be fairly cliquish and unwelcoming to someone who did not fit their type. This school year, we moved our son to Cooper High School in Abilene ISD for his sophomore year, and we couldn't be more happier that we did so. He is loving it. The student body is much more welcoming and diverse as a whole. He has made many new friends and really enjoys his classes as well. I wish we would've settled in Abilene ISD originally. If you are moving to Abilene, send your kids to Abilene ISD.

I am a recent graduate of this school. Overall, mine was a neutral experience. I moved into this school at the beginning of my 9th grade year. Compared to my previous school, the academics were not very challenging. Few AP classes and electives are offered, making the academics seem very bare-boned and centered on average students. However, the teachers are supportive, friendly, and willing to go out of their ways for struggling individuals. The school's emphasis and funding are almost entirely centered on sports (mostly football); other extracurricular activities such as UIL seemed to be underfunded in comparison. For example, millions of dollars were dumped into the new football stadium. Necessary? I think not. tl;dr, great for sports, limiting in many other aspects.

Wylie is not a very diverse community: ethnicity, religion, economic status. Kids achieve their when they fit that mold. Unfortunately several kids do not and never find their place in the school. Academically, teachers leave the education to parents. So if you push your kid and "teach them" what teachers can not, then they will achieve.
