I could say so many things about DCA, and unfortunately most of them are not good. I only attended for high school, so I could not say anything about their elementary or middle school, which are supposedly better than the high school... I went into my freshman year very hopeful because I heard that they had an excellent drama/theatre department. I found that to be only partially true. While they do put on amazing productions for the most part, the abundant downfalls made my experience miserable. I was in theatre all four years, but I never got to say a word onstage, despite having been very involved in community theatre since fourth grade. I was bullied into believing I wasn't good enough to be in DCA's shows. The reality is, the same students get chosen year after year for every production. It's almost always the popular kids, often the ones whose parents are well-off. I was neither of those. On top of all that, the theatre department and the arts in general at DCA are vastly under appreciated and under funded. Everyone is concerned with sports. After I graduated, they spent who knows how much money on updating the football stadium, while the arts performances are still in the gym or cafeteria...they could have spent some of that money on a fine arts building, but I guess more of the donors care about sports rather than the arts. Also, speaking of athletics, many of the coaches are also teachers. At a school, it should be obvious that teaching should come first and then you can have the option to be a coach on the side if you have a passion for it, this is not always the case at DCA. I had teachers that obviously cared more about the sport he/she coached. Students deserve to have teachers that know what they are doing and have their heart in it, not ones that were hired to be a coach and were offered a teaching position just because they needed someone. I also had quite an ordeal with bullying during my time at DCA. I can definitely admit that I was rather annoying at times as a teenager, but that does not excuse the things I had to go through while I was there, nor the nonchalant attitudes of the staff when I, and my parents, voiced our concerns. Overall, the academics were good, probably a 7/10. But all the other aspects of the school made my experience about a 4/10. I will never recommend anyone to send their kids there, particularly for high school.

I attended DCA for 13 years, along with my brother and cousins. All of us not only grew spiritually, but also in academics and leadership. DCA allows for strong leadership roles on sports teams and in their many clubs and activities. In addition, one of DCA's many strengths would be their English department. Now in college, I am well ahead of my peers when it comes to understanding how to write a paper and follow all of the important MLA guidelines that DCA instills early in middle school. If placing your child in a loving, Christian community is something you prioritize, I would highly suggest this school for your family.

DCA is a great school with passionate teachers. I am thankful my children are growing up and being educated in such a positive environment. Schools today are not like schools were in the past. Safety, solid education , passionate teachers, and a sense of community are not the norm. We have found all these traits at DCA and hope these strong characteristics continue for many years to come.

With the growth that Nashville has experienced it is a tremendous feeling to have such a sense of community within DCA. With the small class sizes you are able to build relationships with students, teachers, and administration. The curriculum and approach to education has proved to be beneficial for both of our children over the past four years. We have been very pleased with our experience at DCA and would certainly recommend this school to others seeking a private education for their children in the Donelson/Hermitage/Mt. Juliet area.

We have two children at DCA as we just began our fifth year. One child started just before her second birthday. We love the continuity DCA provides as kiddos transfer from preschool into elementary, then eventually through graduation. We have loved ALL the personnel, from the preschool teachers to the administration. We've been able to get to know some faculty and see their dedication to not only our kids' education, but their discipleship as well. We highly recommend DCA!
