We love the STREAM (science, technology, religion, engineering, arts, math) curriculum. Both our boys enjoy the sports and music programs.

Excellent. Genuine love, care, and affection for the children. It truly is like having an extended family. The faith-based eduction is the differentiator, because it’s about morals and being a good person. The school is serious about striving to be the best it can be in any category, but ultimately, their goal is to guide children into being great human beings.

If you are looking at sending your child to the school, you need really think about how your family values align with the school (and please go beyond surface levels). We have had experience with other Catholic schools that were wonderful and our expectations were high. However, we also realize as children age there will be new challenges and we believe in the school/church being a partner in helping us raise our child. Sacred Heart did not provide this at all. We expect conflict in relationships to include children, but we do not expect physical aggression, emotional abuse, and for the administration to keep faculty out of the loop when parents are trying to address the issue. We did not expect to be told that the physical aggression our child experienced and witnessed along with the verbal abuse and the stealing of their items multiple times to be gaffed off as drama. We did not expect the school to be completely responsible for solving everything, but we did expect them to address the problems appropriately no matter who the offenders were. Children make mistakes, that is what they do, but unless we address the problem in a loving teachable manner, the behavior will never change. Entitlement is not acceptable ever in children or adults in our family values. We value being inclusive and kind. Even when wanting to volunteer we were shunned and turned away or ignored on many occasions, but as long as our child was loving it, then we did not care. However, our child has experienced a serious decline in their ability to say they feel safe at school. That they feel safe standing up for themselves. We are giving this school two starts because there are SOME teachers who really do care, but are at the mercy of the administration. Teachers are suppose to trust the administration to do the right thing, why wouldn't they right? The teachers are again why we are bumping up the rating. I don't believe administration is unkind on purpose, but that the political pull and the past few years of administrative ups and downs have perhaps tied their hands, or they feel they are tied. However, you do the right thing no matter what. These are children and what you do today affects them tomorrow. This is the reason we can no longer allow our child to attend this school. Children should feel safe and welcomed not scared and forced to conform to unhealthy behaviors.

Growing up in Memphis where there are far more Catholic schools, I had a lot of schools to compare to when choosing Sacred Heart for my children. It was a very very easy decision considering I attended Catholic school K-12th grade. People in this town do not realize what an asset this school is to the community and how that experience for our children along with the high expectations in academic excellence, make it a premier environment for a top notch education. There are positive big advancements continuing as we speak. Many of the teachers have been dedicated for years and the foundation of school which started in 1956 is proof to a lifelong commitment to Cathoilc education. Cathoilc means "universal" and that is exactly why this school should never be overlooked by noncatholics. If you are at all familiar with the Catholic schools in other cities, there are people of all walks of life, and people of different cultures and even religions. All of these "people" believe in the mission of Catholic education. My children in particular are high achievers and self motivated, and I give much of that credit to Sacred Heart by instilling strong values which are much needed and ignored in today's society.
