While this school seems to have adequately prepared me for college, do not come here under the hopes of getting a Christian experience, the leadership focus hasn’t slipped from academics and has been wrongly subdued in athletics with a desire to grow to that of Baylor, GPS and Mcallie. I was personally put through a rough time within both the volleyball and softball programs because of the lack of decency and honesty within the head coaches and the athletic directors unwillingness to help the situations.

Love the small classes and the love and care the teachers and staff show!

Parents and teachers are afraid to speak up about problems at this school, because of the retribution that it brings about. Administrators hire their close friends and relatives. President Dirkse is primarily concerned with using increased tuition and financial aid like a college in order to recruit athletes, specifically for football. They will use all the right educational and Christian buzzwords when describing programs, but the implementation of programs is a disaster. Most recently, my daughter was made to feel guilty and told that she should be ashamed for celebrating the inauguration of a new American president....that we should not support someone who has displayed bad behavior in the past. Yet, they will excuse all kinds of bad student behavior by showing "grace and reconciliation". The kids are stupid- they know that there are no repercussions for bad behavior and they act like it. Weak, weak leadership at this school. Stay away until things change!

CCS use to be more of a relational school, while at the same time focusing on academics. The administration needs an overhaul. They HAD an INCREDIBLE elementary school principal and the Head of School, Chad Dirske foolishly let her go. He then promoted a teacher who had just been at the school two years, to be Head of Lower School. There is just too many politics and gossip that goes around the administrators and some faculty.Parents are hesitant to say too much because they will be labeled as a "difficult parent". I personally overheard Shonda Caines speaking with another employee about a couple of these parents. There are some excellent teachers, but in the middle and high school, there is a tremendous lack of "relationships" being built with the students. Guidance counselors in the middle and high school push hard for academics, but they need to remember that God has given other gifts to the students as well, like art, singing, etc,, and pressure the students to take elective classes that they don't have an interest in. I know personally of a few high school students who had some serious personal problems going on, and they commented on how the school is clueless and there isn't anyone at the school they could talk to. The one principal who was relational and excellent in all areas is being let go, and it is such a significant loss to students who found her as a "safe" place to go and talk to. On Grandparents' Day this past year, no one from the school spoke after the Lion King performance to even thank the Grandparents for coming. It was so embarrassing and disorganized after the incredible performance .The Head of School, Chad Dirkse, or even the High School, Bryan Black should have been there to thank the Grandparents for coming. To be honest, I don't think the students, parents, and certainly not grandparents know who Chad Dirkse is, or even what he looks like. He is never seen at school. CCS could save a lot of money by just letting him go. He has tragically let this one good school fall apart. The other schools in the area have many social events, and it would benefit the students GREATLy and help them get to know one another if CCS implemented more socializing events Just look at GPS' website and you'll see an example of how a top rated school should socialize and be run.Move clips for behavior to different colors, very negative management!
