I have since pulled my child out of Williamson county and put her in metro and she seems much happier there. The administration are control freaks. I highly recommend metro Nashville schools where they have a handle on their kids and the schools are not completely overcrowded and they know how to handle bullying.

My experience with my kid's teachers in this school is good, like other public schools I guess. One thing throws me off is this person works in the school front office. She is the school secretary who are listed the first on the school administrative page. I have never seen a smile from her during the past encounters with her except from the school website picture. She did a great job to make sure you feel intimidated, unwelcome, and helpless. I don't understand why a person like her was put on this customer service role. I can feel her desperation and dislike of this job. Unfortunately she has been passing all of her negative energy to other parents and students.

so im currently in 8th grade at brentwood and this by far has been one of the worst academic years of my life. all my teachers, except for my math teacher, have been very nice and supportive and are very encouraging toward me. however, there are many other teacher (7th and 8th mostly) that are extremely careless and do not understand that students have other classes and sometimes have to place priorities on other things besides what their subject is. i excel in science and language arts, but i have extreme pressure and unfair treatment from my math teacher. over the course of this year my anxiety has developed steadily by my math teacher and how she treats me and other students. i have also seen many kids be wrongly punished for their actions. drug dealers get ISS and rarely OSS for their actions, while a kid who stands up to a bully who is going after him (physically and they respond physically) is given longer time in ISS and has a high possibility of OSS. right there is what needs to change. also (this is just something that really has annoyed everyone), the teachers need to calm down if an 8th grader goes to their locker after lunch. why do you get so worked up about it ?? like I've seen kids get demerits from putting their lunch box away or going to the bathroom. its just ridiculous. i also wish that mental heath of the student body would be taken more seriously because being in sports as well as all the homework and also church (if you're religious) and taking time out of the day to relax usually doesn't leave very much time to sleep or socialize, which is vital to a teenagers health and growth. 6th grade was a blast, 7th made me really depressed because of how man girls are (okay thats another topic for another time) and 8th has had its ups and valley stays. if you want your kid to be pushed, join the BMS community. I've learned many skills that will help me socially in the future, such as dealing with people i don't like. i also have learned that fake friends are everywhere. but please do not enroll your student here if they want an easy coasting middle school career that is going to end in disaster at the high school when all this work comes their way. being in 8th grader here has caused me to grow and to become a better student. don't get me wrong, I'm ready to up and leave to get to BHS so i can actually be treated like an adult. thats all i got.

I agree with the reviews below. My son attended there for 3 years and was miserable. The population at this school will target students who are different. Middle schoolers can be brutal anyway, but BMS kids take it to a different level. My son was constantly bullied there (he has mild autism) and the administration could make it stop. If you don't fit in, don't go there. Also, this is a rigorous school with high pressure to make high scores. There is about 3 hours of homework per night in 8th grade, even though studies show more homework does not mean better scores.

My daughter and I are not fans of this school. If you fit into the little mold of conservative white Christian and relish the thought of 3-4 hours of homework every night in 8th grade, you'll love it. But good luck deviating from the "standard." Oh, and if you're a female student, expect your clothing to be scrutinized constantly. Now, if you're a male student, don't worry about that dress code, it really only applies to girls, because girls are obviously inherently sexual. A girl's shoulder or thigh is clearly a distraction for all the males of the school. If you are not a conservative, plan on hiding that at all times. And best of luck if you're not Christian or a church goer, plan on hiding that fact. If you fall into the LGTBQ category, again, you'll want to hide that. There are a few good teachers, but most of them were little help to my daughter. I heard stories all the time about teachers admonishing her for asking questions. She has told me about teachers belittling and denigrating students in front of the class. My daughter has been completely miserable at BMS and can't wait to leave. I can't wait for her to be done, either. There is a whole lot of "look what a good parent I am," keeping up with the Jones. There is a level of snobbery I've not experienced. If you want a good middle school, with caring teachers and without such a pretentious attitude, go to Woodland Middle. My niece goes there and it's great. I wish I'd known about it when we were looking at homes. The school just seems so much more accepting of all. I hardly want to step foot in BMS.
