"First off, I am special permission to this school because I was attracted to the German program, marching band, and strong academics over my zoned school Jl Mann. Yes there will always be downsides to every highschool experience. However despite the number of negative reviews, I believe that Riverside High School is a great school to send your children to. Yes, high school has its fair share of cliques, drugs, fights, etc. For the most part a school is defined by its teachers and faculty. There are good and lesser teachers at every school, including this one. It's not a matter of teachers ""don't teach,"" it is a matter of ineffective or different teaching styles. If a student says a teacher doesn't teach, he should first look within himself to see what he can modify or improve, then seek out help! My experience has proved that the guidance office is phenomenal, many of my teachers have challenged my perspective and caused me to think. I have worked harder than I ever have before academically here, but am all the better for it. The AP and Honors classes are tough but rewarding. Mr. Crowley while not too involved with the students directly does a fantastic administrative job. This school has a great variety of clubs, athletics, and strong teachers. If I had to choose a high school again, I would hands down return to Riverside!"

"This used to be an amazing school. No more. Teachers are uncaring. Guidance office is amazing (excluding freshman counselor) but they don't teach. Uncaring principal. Spoiled ""elite"" students. Heavy drug use by students."

Riverside in the mid 2000s was the academic superpower of Greenville County. However, that title has been handed over to the Generals at Wade Hampton. At this point, Riverside is slipping academically, and that was essentially the only thing going for them. Facilities are bland and extremely institutional, spirit is mediocre compared to that of other area high schools, and students are very cliquey. Drugs are also a prevalent issue at RHS. If you want athletics, go to Greer. If you want a community, go to Eastside. For academics, go to Wade Hampton. Riverside is second rate in these areas to local schools.

Moving to Greer, SC? Stay away from Riverside High School. Counselors & athletic coaches are pretty good, good band program but teachers are hugely disappointing and don't care about their students. School is clickish. Students not accepting of new students at all. Lack of school spirit and team atmosphere. Choose a different school. No reviews since 2012 until recently and there's a reason why the reviews are poor. Spent 1 year at Riverside and moved to a different Greenville County High School.
