Moving out of town due to the lack of quality education. I’m concerned for their experience with college.

There are some good teachers. Some bad. From my experience, there are good people who are horrible teachers, and vice versa. While some teachers are a problem, the lockers are literally falling apart, there's graffiti on the desks, and there's such thing as "mandatory field trips," The biggest problem is the students. Never have I gone to a school with students so stuck on themselves. They all grow up together, and once an outsider comes, they attack them. In a few words, they're snobby, rude, and delusional. Other than the students, we had many resources taken away from us due to budget cuts. Along with this, there is sometimes lunch food past experation date, or very close to it. Yes, the school has its good moments, but it's one of those things where the bad is more than the good.

This school simply has a low tolerance for students. THey seem to be hard knocks here and very little room for students who fall behind. Even when seeking help from the guidance department they have little help for parents. It is sad when as a parent you see your child failing and they pretty much put you off and tell you there are no options for your child, no one here jumps into action to help a failing child even when they see a problem right out of the gate in the first quarter. I regret moving here to this town. Very unfortunate!

I agree quite a bit with the reviewer below. I think they lack quality administrators, probably due to funding. The taxes we pay are so out of proportion to the educational funding. I have found the elementary school to have some very talented, dedicated teachers. As a parent, you need to navigate through, making sure you get the best teacher for your child. I have been fortunate with our teachers, but at times I wished we moved to a lower taxed community and sent them to least for high school. With the socioeconomics of our community, you'd expect a higher performance. Many elementary teachers deserve a five, but as a district, it falls short.

North Smithfield is an affluent community with bright kids. This school should be one of the highest achieving schools in the state. The town is always driven by spending the least amount of money and the kids suffer for it. The town consistently hires the cheapest and least experienced administrators and consequently many administrators lack talent and intelligence, and there is a huge leadership gap. Many students graduate without having basic skills. Take a look at some of the writing on some of the comments here of people who identify themselves as graduates and you will see what I mean. North Smithfield schools used to be among the best in the state, yet are no longer. Moving into this town was a mistake for my family.
