Overall an awful experience to go there as a student. If you fit in with the kids and are just like everyone else, you are fine. But if you are different from everyone else in terms of skin color, behave differently, etc. then expect to be heavily bullied. Don't expect teachers to stop them either. They will just watch and ignore it or in some cases, join the students in bullying them.

The most amazing school with the best teachers and administrators possible! The head principal is such a great guy!

I went to 5 high schools and I can easily say NASH was the biggest and best public school I attended. While there are a lot of students, I never felt there were any cliques. I sat with different people during lunch each day, enjoyed classes, and didn't have an issue with a single other student. Plus Dr. B was the best :)

NA is known for its superior academics and excellent athletic programs, but the student body is by far one of the worst in the nation. The school is essentially divided into two types of people: those who are humble and respectful and those who are absolute snobs. As a school that caters to a community of upper middle class, it is expected to have some snobs in the school, but it is far from normal when more than one-third of the school falls under this category. Bullying, despite recent attempts by the district to combat it, is still a major issue as these snobs persist in harassing those who are even slightly different than the stereotypical white, straight, wealthy, and spoiled persons that dominate this school. Things have also begun to go downhill for this school, and I have lost a lot of trust in them when they considered severe cutbacks to the district's special education program, while still maintaining the GOAL (gifted student) program without any sacrifices to it. Within less than twenty years after my graduation, I can guarantee this school will be one of the worst in the state because of the student body and the school's lack of true morals.

This is kind of difficult. I'm a 2007 graduate with mixed feelings about my education at this school and others in the district (I went Marshall Elementary > Marshall Middle > NAI > NASH). Academics are great, no question, and especially by high school you can choose between lots of electives and take tons of APs if you want to. I was definitely prepared for my college classes. I never felt unsafe there. The main downside is a culture among the students--not necessarily the teachers/staff--that encourages homogeneity and conformity. Bullying, at least when I went through the school system, was a problem. Most of the kids are at least middle class and many are upper middle, so entitlement is a huge problem. There are no social consequences among the students for being a jerk to gay kids, smart kids, weird kids, non-white kids, or poor kids because the student body at large doesn't have enough diversity for those kids to be protected. On the other hand, there are enough kids that you can usually find friends weird in the same way as you. But you're definitely in the minority if your parents aren't white, straight, Christian, Republican, and affluent.
