Both my girls just started so this is their first year here, they previouly went to StoneyBrook. I really like the staff so far, they seem really helpful, caring, kind, understanding and considerate(Nurse, and Principal). However, I think the education was a lot better at StoneyBrook. The school is over all good, but they need to improve on their education. I had also noticed a difference in a small variety to choose from for lunch, and the building is nice but not as nice as StoneyBrook's. I would personally also like more contact with their teachers as well and a weekly log about what they are learning so I can help them if need be and just to know what they are learning about, although I do appreciate the behavior slips. The school is definatly better than a city school, but my opinion as a parent is that they also have a whole lot to improve on.

First year for my kids and have been very disappointed with this school. There is a terrible lack of communication between some teachers and parents. Kids went from straight A students to one getting a C every quarter in a class without any homework for that class and never sending in-class assignments home until the end of the year. Amazingly has A s in the classes that actually have homework and work that is sent home. You would think that would give the teacher a better understanding of how to correct the issue. Very displeased in this school. Have had numerous conversations with the teacher and have not gone anywhere. Not very promising when a teacher in my neighborhood moves when our area is redistricted to this school for the reason of she says that she would not allow her children to go there. The school had low test scores and seems that the children were redistricted to try to help in that regard. Will be trying to get my children out of there for next school year.

I am not sure I would send any child I know there! They have a teacher who hit a student and the principal is trying to sweep it under the carpet the teacher is still teaching while they look into it.

My 5 year old son goes to kindergarten here. I've tried multiple times to get in contact with his teacher with questions or concerns and never once received a response from her (and we're coming to the end of the school year). I'm also disgusted by the amount of junk food promotion at this school. I'm not a total prude, but in one week, we had a homework sheet where they practiced writing about going to Mcdonalds, Wendys, HEB and Taco Bell, as well as a sheet offering a prize if they eat enough Lucky Charms to get box tops, a sheet where they sorted and ate Lucky Charms at school, and they have all the kids hyped up about going to Chuck E. Cheese to raise money for the PTO (which we can't go to and of course he's miserably disappointed about). This is only in one week. They also get candy almost every day, and their ideas of healthy food are lousy at best. When I contacted the principal she was very combative and basically told me that these activities are good for the kids learning and there is nothing they plan to do about it. Essentially she gave me the cold-shoulder-shrug off, and of course his teacher (who I called first) never responded to me at all.
