Last school year I had 2 children at Whittier. The teachers were okay but the principal was very rude! She barely offers a hello to the parents as they enter the school. One of my children was on a below average reading level and by the end of the year, his teachers had "given" him an A.

I find a large part of the staff very helpful and dedicated to the success of the students however the principal is very unhelpful and at times rude. Other than that our experience has been great

My son went there for k. He is doing well and is ready to go to first grade but only with the help of Mrs. Degain. She was his teacher and she did a very good job with him. He is reading and doing a little math even. The principle is not very pleasant and the staff is very stressed. My wife and I had to stay on top of my son's progress. We were up there at least 2x a week just to let them know that we care. Out of 4 k classes we received the best teacher from what the counselor says so that doesn't say much for the school. It is a neighborhood school and if you have to send your child there, please don't let the learning and the teaching stop at 3:09.
