HMS has a number of issues. The most important one is inadequate leadership from the principal. Teachers vary in quality, some are interested, but many are not. Parental concerns are usually treated in a flippant manner, teachers clearly have no concerns about their relationship to the community. Teacher issues are not resolved by the principal. PSSA scores are good, but don't forget that this is a wealthy community where parents take an interest in their children's academic performance. They get every advantage for their children's academic success outside of school: lessons, travel, tutoring. So test scores may reflect the community more than the teachers' success with the students.

Well to Deborah Mallek, a parent." I hate to break it to you but I am a current Hershey student. And if the school you went to had enough potential why didn't they teach you if you don't have anything nice to say than don't say anything.

Hershey Middle School is like no other. I'm a current student and can honestly say that I love my school. The teachers can be amazing while others are just cranky, but thats how every school is. Our sports program is amazing. We're always promoting good sportsmanship and leadership. Our school board is always finding new ways to improve our learning experience. Right now, we're even in the process of getting new laptops. Some will be available to be signed out by students who arent able to get to a computer at home. The teachers here are really supportive and make you see what your best really is and help you reach it. if your looking for a good stable school, Hershey is the best choice.

I think that Herhsey Middle School is a very outstanding school. All of their testing average is above the states. The staff is extremely helpful to the parents and staff. From the children's perspective, the teachers get them involved in what they are doing. The school offers extra-curricular activities throughout all of the seasons. They also offer plenty of free after school activities with parent permission. For example, my daughter has participated in after school bowling 'Dance Dance Revolution' and others. The school allows students to participate in the choices of teachers and principals with Student Council and Principal's Counicl. This school truly gets students interested in learning. They offer the students many things from the languages they take, to playing an instrument, choir, The Science Olympiads, The Mathletes, art fairs, and more. This is a truely genuine school.
