Circle Of Seasons Waldorf Charter School Ratings & Reviews

My daughter attended a local private school before this and was unhappy due to a learning disability that was diagnosed in first grade. When my husband and I transferred her to Circle of Seasons she bloomed. The very first day of school, I received my daughter's 504 plan, a plan I waited months for (and was still waiting for from our school district). She was also evaluated for an IEP within a month of her arrival there as well. I can't say enough about the Special Education Departmeng there and the teachers and staff who truly care about their students.

My daughter was starting to shut down in traditional public school and as a parent I felt helpless. I felt like she was just being moved along and not truely learning. She had tons of homework every night that took up the whole evening and she was falling behind and she knew it. When she started attening COS her interest in school sky rocketed. She was no longer withdrawn and she can releate and understand how she was being taught. There are still some areas she struggles with, but there has been so much improvement. I am so glad there is an alternative to traditional public school for the children who don't learn the traditional way.

Truly devoted teachers who bend over backwards for the school and their students. The looping is a great way for students to form relationships with one another and their teacher. And in return the teacher tailors lessons perfectly since they know their students.

I love Waldorf education, but there was no way that we could afford the cost of a private education. COS provides the Waldorf-based approach we have been seeking. My son gets outside for at least an hour a day, playing, hiking and being a kid! It allows him the time to process what he has learned during lessons! He is not tested - at all! His progress is based on his performance and ability to think and problem solve - not his ability to regurgitate information. I LOVE that math is taught as a connected topic. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are all taught at the same time with an emphasis on deeply understanding the relationship between numbers. My son may not always come to the correct solution, but he understands how each operation works. He's in 2nd grade - he has known this since last year. All education is done through story with a heavy emphasis on art. Finally, there are NO electronics!! My son gets plenty of screen time at home and I'm so happy that at school he's not in front of computer screen for 6 hours!

We are very happy we found COS for our child. We have been with the school since the beginning and they have not disappointed. Our child has a love for learning I find astonishing. While his cousins in the public school system are overwhelmed with homework and hate their school. Our child actually gets upset when can't attend due to being sick or a snow day. Every night he wants to practice his site words and read us a book. His math skills are above par for his grade. He is excited everyday by what he has learned and what he will be doing his next day. After hearing what they offered and how the curriculum was set up I was skeptical. But after doing research both on line and talking with friends and family in the education field we decided to give it a try. The school is as advertised, giving our child a strong grounding in education and what we hope to be a life long love of learning, education and critical thinking problem solving skills. If your thinking about sending your children, I would recommending speaking with the school and doing your own research on what a Waldorf school is. You won't be disappointed by what your child can achieve here.
