Easton Area High School Ratings & Reviews

I went to Easton, and graduated about 8 years ago. I was in the top 5% of my class and attended all the honors/AP courses. I can say from this perspective that Easton does a satisfactory job educating gifted individuals, as I was fully prepared for college by the time I arrived. As for the other 95% of students, I can't say. I do know that an inordinate amount of students failed/dropped down grade levels during my 4 years in Easton (more than 25%). This is most likely due to Easton's inclusion of lower income areas such as South Side and Downtown. If you keep your nose clean, Easton is a great school, and will not hold students back from their college endeavors at all whatsoever. Easton also has phenomenal school spirit, and their athletic programs were a blast to be a part of.

My child's school is Easton Area High School. I'm not from thus stare so my other children went to out of state schools and did extremely well and off to college. EAHS has to be by far the worst school I have ever encountered from the lack of encouraging kids to do better, give them a sense of pride to the academics that just leaves parents baffled how kids do absolutely nothin and get by with decent grades. How is this preparing them for college!? Most gave no ambition because there is nit one teacher in gage four years that have actually cared about the students on all levels. We stayed in PA so he could have the full HS experience, we'll there was none to be had. The kids don't care, the school and teachers don't either. Now my son who thought education was an easy no effort B average student has no idea in how to grasp the concept and prepare for college because no one other than his parents pushed him to do more and learn more. Please if you want your child to have a great education which our taxes pay for ... Move! The private schools are just as bad. Don't send your kids to thus school system. Private schools just as bad.

The success of an Easton Area High School student depends solely on his/her personality and will. My oldest son graduated 304th of 653 students (they started freshman year with 914...you tell me what happened to the other 250 students). Thankfully my son never struggled academically since the staff doesn't seem to provide much reinforcement for success...they are simply too busy. I was once told by an EAHS math teacher that 'if I contacted every parent who's child was having a difficult time in my class, I'd be on the phone all day'. And that was freshman year. A student who is naturally ambitious, independent and has a tight knit group of friends (or teammates if they're athletic) will do well. It seems as though most middle of the road students just float through and the rest are classified. I do not recommend this school for the weary.

Easton Area High School is a great highschool. Compare it to other schools, you wont be able to find the verity that EAHS has. Test scores really cant tell you how a school helps its students learn. I'm not a great test taker; many other students, like myself, can't test well but can retain the information taught. Tests cant show just how well one retains information but it shows how well you do under the pressures of time. I dont believe that schools should be rated on test scores. Test scores can not tell anything about a person ability to work, how well they learning in their environment, or what type of person they can or have become by going to that school. Talk to the students, parents, teachers, and principals they will tell you how a school really should be rated; by how the students turn out in life.

I would have to strongly disagree with the parent who submitted a review criticizing one of the teachers in particular for showing a movie. As a student, I would like to point out that the vast majority of the videos we see in class are from the history channel, or something of that sort. However, when it comes to the whole Saving Private Ryan video not being as educational as you think, that's where I'd have to disagree. I was in that class actually, and I think that by us watching the movie, it gave us a different perspective on just how crucial the war was. It showed you what it was like for a few soldiers up close and on a more personal level than what anything on the history channel could provide. I also believe that not all teaching should be about essays and watching things that are strictly
