I have two children at WPCS. My oldest is graduating this year in my son will not be following her. This school has gone downhill. I have been dealing with this school since my children were in kindergarten, in it was great. They stayed on top of the kids education, the teachers cared, the principle didn't play, period. But, over the years they fell off. They stop doing field trips once a month, bully is becoming a common thing, every couple months they are losing teachers and, the children are so disrespectful. I will admit, this school tops Chester Charter School but, I notice in the last two years a lot of the Chester Charter School children are starting to attend WPCS. See if your children can get into Chester School of Arts first (in hurry, I hear that school is also going downhill).

This school is terribly understaffed and the little staff that they do have could not care less about the children that are left in their care. They pay the children absolutely no attention. Children are left to roam the halls, fight, and attack one another. There is no discipline in place for any child that bullies another child. The Principle has no idea of the policies and procedures. There is little to no teaching going on. I go in and out of the school all day volunteering and this is my child's last year because I fear for her safety.

The powers that be at Widener should be ashamed of themselves. This school is only a very small step up from Chester's public schools. The staff is amazing, highly educated, experienced, and dedicated, but the lack of supports for students with behavioral, emotional, and academic needs is unbelievable. The school relies on parents not knowing any better, who don't complain, and don't demand what, by law, their children should be getting in the way of resources. ALL grade levels are rife with students who disrupt the classes. Teachers spend so much time handling discipline issues that it is very difficult to give special attention to any other students. I would never send my own children here. These beautiful children DESERVE so much more than this!

My son did not start at WPCS on the 1st day it started, but a month later. My husband and I are very pleased with his educational career thus far. He will be entering 7th grade in Sept. and has been an honor roll student every year. Every year that he has taken the PSSA he has scored advanced & proficient. We do our part along with the teachers to make sure he's doing and becoming the person he can be. The schools can only do so much, parents have to be active participants in their child(ren)s education. I applaud the faculty and staff at WPCS and I'm looking forward to this school year under the direction of a new principal.

My First concerns with this school is the safety of my son. I have called the school numerous times and have been told that the harrassment of my school was being looked into. I even went in and filled out a bulling report and again I was told the same thing. Second, my son is in first grade and he said his bored in class because alot of the work he did in kindergarten and if he did not know something the teacher was to busy taking care of the children that were disrupting the class and he could not get her attention. I understand we are not in the greatest location but why treat our kids as scrum bags. This school is better then most in the arear but it is terrible in its own way.
