There's so many things wrong with this school, but I couldn't possiblyou list all on this measly comment without writing up entire book complaints

CMS offers a small district with a great community. I would prefer that 5th graders would remain in the elementary school, but the tightness of the community makes up for it.

I am a student at the school and I'm in the highest classes so they expect me to be the best in everything BUT they put kids into classes based on ONLY their math scores of they're bad at math but good at everything else, too bad! Also kids can get in trouble for things the Vice principle says (the actual principle doesn't take care of anything) are in the guidelines but really aren't and he makes them up thinking no one will look it up there have been 3 incidences where i got in trouble for things that aren't against the rules! Also most teachers give kids who have anger management problems or are in lower classes special treatment if I were to swear or hit a kid in front of a teacher i would get detention, but if someone in a lower class were to they would get told not to say that (they usually don't listen) and it has very unfair teachers! Ex. i get a 80% on a test that counts for 60% of my grade, I get like 5-10 points taken off, i get a 60% on a project worth 10% of my grade, I get 30-40 points taken off! (both examples from when i had 90-95% right before the end of a marking period)

I think, along with many other parents, that it is ridiculous that elementary level 5th graders are pushed into a Middle School with such a wide range of age, behavior & maturity levels. They should be on elementary school time still & not have the same exact rules & discipline as typical middle school years of 6th, 7th & 8th graders. Even better would be middle school just 7th & 8th grade. I don't understand CASD's thinking of building an addition at Sheckler for administration instead if building a 5th grade hallway to accommodate 5th grade back in Elementary where it belongs!! Your forcing our kids to grow up faster & be around things & behavior they should not be exposed to yet!!!

I attended CMS all four years of my middle school career. The school, first off, is way too small. The fifth graders have the widest hallway in the school, while seventh graders have the smallest. There are hundreds of lockers that nobody uses, yet all students are squished in next to eachother with extremely small lockers. It is very common as you walk down the hallway to hear arguments of "Move you're in my way!" and "Stop pushing me!" Next, although I must say some teachers are great, many unfortuneatly are not. Some I really believe hate children. Many I learned nothing from. On the contrary, I did love a lot of the teachers at this school. Also, fifth grade should not be in this middle school. It is simply too wide a range. Eighth graders are being tripped by fifth graders (yes you read right!) because the little munchkins are constantly running around like sugar crazed toddlers. I do not understand why they want to get to class so bad. Students that go to CMS are simply miserable. Not one wants to be there. The atmosphere I find just very depressing. I have many more complaints, but I'm running out of characters. If you live in Catty, send your child to a charter school.
