Marysville is an amazing school. We have three children attending the school and they are doing great. We live out of the district and our neighborhood school is Lents Elementary. We transferred into Marysville to take advantage of their MindUp program. We highly recommend Marysville!

The thing I love most about Marysville is the caring, supportive principal and the staff who clearly love to be there and care deeply about the kids. The school uses mindfulness as their focus of education. All the kids learn to meditate, do yoga, and be aware of their needs and their feelings. Relaxing music is played in all rooms as the kids are arriving in the morning. One half of the building is new construction due to a fire about 10 years ago. The only thing I wish was different was that there was a little more parent involvement. But the community is building back up after the fire displaced them for 2-3 years. I would recommend Marysville, it's excellent.

We absolutely love Marysville! We felt anxious about moving from a very small private pre-school to a larger K-8 public school but the transition has been seamless! The staff has welcomed us with open arms. The mindfulness that they teach the students (and parents) is amazing. I feel so happy every time I take our daughter to her classroom. I love all of the opportunities that they offer parents to get together. Being involved at the school and in the classroom is very important to me and I am so glad they give me this opportunity. Our Kindergartener loves going to school everyday!!

Marysville has been a second home for my kiddos and my family. The staff are so kind, compassionate and welcoming. I have been a part of this community for 10 years and have seen changes in leadership, teaching staff, and families. Even with those changes, each year the school strives to maintain high expectations of staff and students. I have seen both my students (4th and 2nd) grow both academically and socially during their time at Marysville. I cannot think of a better neighborhood school for my family. "There's no place like Marysville!"

Our family loves Marysville Elementary School! My son is in second grade and is doing great. He loves school and has many friends. Every teacher has been excellent. He is doing especially well in reading and math. He is already reading huge books on his own, such as The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. The school is using the Reflex Math program that makes math fun and interesting. We do Reflex Math at home and my son really enjoys it. Every day starts with positive greetings and smiling teachers at the front door. Principal Lana is always at the front door to welcome students and parents to school and everyone is happy. The school is using the MindUp program created by Goldie Hawn. I have seen significant improvements in my child's learning and academic performance. MindUp helps him learn valuable social and emotional skills, and it creates a peaceful classroom and learning environment. My son loves all the teachers and staff he interacts with, especially his library, art, and PE teachers. I walk my son to the classroom every morning, and pick him up from the classroom every afternoon. I get to observe the inside of the school and how it's working. All the students and staff inside the school are happy, friendly, cheeful, and smiling. I have never witnessed any negativity, bullying, or fights. The school has an aggressive anti-bullying campaign and they ensure that no child is bullied or attacked in school. I have attended a few field trips with the classroom and had a great time. We recently had a class field trip to the Gilbert House Children's Museum in Salem and it was amazing. I have become good friends with the other parents and children in school, and we are creating a great community. I attend some Marysville Family Club meetings, it's a great organization working to improve the school and community. I have spoken with other teachers who visit every Portland Public School, and they all say that Marysville is one of the best. They are surprised at how peaceful and happy everyone is. I highly recommend Marysville and believe it is the best school in Portland!
