There are so many opportunities at Jeff, for instance SEI, PCC, camps, bio tech program, sports, dance. There is also a strong sense of community in the student body. The students feel empowered to be politically active in the city.

There are many things that my son and I love about Jeff, however, the broken mentality of teachers, staff, parents, and students there will make it very difficult for the school and community to make any real progress away from the stereotypical persona. Unfortunately, most of the teachers and staff no longer expect greatness from the students. Mediocrity is the standard expectation, and when one wants to rise above it, the teachers and staff not only question their ability, but also discourage it. Parents are no different and most are completely uninvolved. It's heartbreaking. As a community, we should EXPECT GREATNESS FROM EVERYONE, especially our children!!!

JEFFERSON HAS SAFETY ISSUES. PEOPLE THAT SHOULDN'T BE IN THE BUILDING ARE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDIING WITHOUT CHECKING IN THE OFFICE AND IS THE PROCEDURE. THERE WAS RED FLAGS ON MY KIDS RECORDS NO VISITIORS ALLOWED ONLY 3 PEOPLE ALLOWED. BUT SOME PERSON WITHOUT PERMISSION WAS ESCORTED TO MY CHILD CLASS AND PULLED OUT OF HER CLASS TO BE INTTEROGAED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION EVEN AFTER A KINAPPED ATTEMPT. A STAFF MEMBER TOOK THE PERSON TO THE CLASS

This is an excellent school. I graduated from jeff in 2008! I came from a catholic high school previous to my year at jeff. I could no longer afford my education and was told to attend my neighborhood school. I was very scared at first because of the rumors I heard. But jefferson was actually a great school and I am a proud demo alumini

Jefferson is an inner city high school that is trying hard to reclaim its former glory days. They have a great partnership with a local non-profit theater group, Stumptown Stages, which involves the acclaimed Jefferson Dancers, and gives the kids opportunities to learn from and work with professionals to put on fabulous shows like The Wiz and A Chorus Line. They truly need and deserve financial help because their parent base is not at all affluent.
