Its a wonderful school for any child who doesn't need extra help. If your child requires special help or attention, be prepared to fully advocate that yourself. They all seem too busy to notice.

My son used to be excited for school and was excelling in all subjects. Since he attended Howard he has little to no motivation to do really anything. It makes my heart ache to see his spark gone. I spoke with his teacher about how things work in the classroom and was invited to sit in. The day started with her rewarding (bribing) the kids with candy to start morning activities. Seriously no kid needs candy especially at 8am. That day at recess after I had left my son was bullied by a group of boys shoved to the ground and cursed at. I spoke with his teacher and she said she has to talk with their parents every week about cursing. She also said she would change their seating. Really that's it! Not once did I ever see the principal. Also they expect Spanish speaking students to sit and wait while they teach in English and vice versa. Kids get bored and misbehave, no wonder the kids aren't learning. What happened to the ESL program or sending kids out to work in groups that focus on their learning level.

That comment is silly! Children always learn "colorful" words once they start school, no matter where they attend. I do not now have children at the school, but I live a block away from it. The neighborhood kids are not any different from any other kids! How dare someone (the reviewer) say that the "quality of the other children... was horrible"? That is outrageous! Who rates the quality of children in an elementary school?

We moved to howard early in the year. My daughter was happy and love school. By the end of this year the love of school was gone, she learned lot of colorfull words, and how to lie. The teachers seem to be ok and interested in the kids doing well. The quality of the other children around her was horrible. She will be going elsewhere next year. I'm currently researching other schools and found this website. It's great to have a place to share.

We moved here from Sacramento, and my daughter was in her 2nd year of Kindergaten. She was not reading at all in the two years she was in school there. We moved here, and she was reading in less than 6 weeks. The quality of school is awesome! More one on one help!
