My son has been with Swallowtail since kindergarten and is now in the 7th grade and I highly recommend it to other parents. The curriculum prepares children for both future academic and social challenges and the environmental education (there is an additional 26-acre farm campus) promotes great responsibility. Highlights include:-Class sizes average 16 students.-The main teacher generally stays with their class from 1st-8th grade. -Media/corporate/commercial-free environment.-No Common Core or standardized testing.-Lots of outside time for every grade level.-Kids that like going to school and thrive! This is a well rounded educational experience that helps develop sharp, motivated and emotionally strong young humans.

This is the third year that my three daughters have attended Swallowtail. We have loved their teachers, who are extremely committed and caring to each of our daughters. We have chosen Swallowtail as an alternative to public education, because of the excessive amount of standardize test taking and homework that is often thrown at elementary school age children. My daughters are being challenged academically, and they love to go to school each morning. We value Swallowtail's holistic approach and that their teachers promote a love of learning. Also, we chose Swallowtail over some other local Waldorf schools, because of the Farm. It is an amazing place, and our daughters have benefitted greatly from being able to learn on the Farm and enjoy the outdoors in an educational setting.

Like so many parents, we were excited and nervous when our daughter started first grade at our local public school. But we also became concerned and disheartened at the unnecessary bureaucratic nature of school culture that influenced the class. We wanted more ΓÇô a place of warmth, play, learning through wonder, and a like-minded community. No question- we found that at Swallowtail School! That was ten years ago and our daughter moved through the grades and middle school to arrive at our local public high school well-adjusted, comfortable in her own skin, academically successful, and a genuinely well-rounded person. Her younger sister is still at Swallowtail and enjoys the middle school, which provides art, music, movement, practical science (they actually get to do stuff, to include time at the 30-acre farm), Spanish language, handwork, theater, a lot of the usual reading/writing/ΓÇÖrithmatic coupled with PLAY! If you are looking for something different for your child, an environment that cultivates learning while addressing the whole child ΓÇô then do check out this amazing school!

I have had a good experience at this school. I have been very happy with the teachers here and the community of parents. Everyone is very invested in the school and makes a lot of effort to ensure itΓÇÖs continued success and growth. I feel very comfortable leaving my children there knowing they will be well taken care of by very capable and caring people.

Swallowtail school goes beyond education! It is a community and mindful place to raise children. I will always be grateful for the years I had at Swallowtail! Cher Levendosky is the greatest Administrator and has lead this school towards continual success!
