Wonderful, warm environment. However, I am concerned (alarmed actually) about the consistently low tests scores of Village School students. While academics should never be the singular focus of a school, teaching students to be decent members of the community should not minimize the value of academic excellence. Students would better benefit from both. Both areas of growth would synergistically improve the other to make the students more well-rounded individuals. Multiple studies show that if students do not read at grade level by the third grade, their chances attending and graduating from college are dismal.

The Village School nourishes and engages the whole child/spirit. My child always wants to stay a little longer when the school day comes to an end. The community of parents, faculty and children work in a symbiotic way, making the flow of village school a natural extension of family life. The small class size allows a special bond between student and teacher that is truly rare these days. In addition, although the Village School is "Waldorf inspired", it is not as regimented and allows for a little more flexibility and growth. I feel blessed to be apart of such an inspired community.

What do I like about the Village School? Caring community, developmentally appropriate learning that integrates art and music throughout the school day, the fact that the children go outside and play every day, teachers who are accessible and involved, hardworking staff. Families are expected to volunteer throughout the year, which helps to keep everyone involved.

School focuses on the whole child: head , hands, and heart. Small class size, amazing staff, dedicated parents. Being a charter school, we get significantly less funding than regular public schools. With this challenge the staff agree to less pay and the parents agree to 40hrs volunteer time a year. The dedication to having the best interest for the children is strong and not fledging any time soon.
