I graduated from this school, and unfortunately have had to watch it degrading over the years. I had to withdraw my student from the school before it literally destroyed his academic learning capabilities. From what I experienced the tenured staff, administration and counselors could not pass a psychological exam if it was required and are only there to instill political correctness in each of the students. More attention is provided and accommodations made for those students with issues than those without. For those parents looking for a good Sports program, this may not be your best choice. The school has gone down to a 5a school to accommodate its current coaching capabilities and poor sports achievements. If your child is the most important gift in the world, I would recommend investing additional effort into finding a better school, I have. A good start would be to look in another school district.

I went to this school and the environment was awful. The kids were rude, and teachers lousy. They did nothing to differentiate between levels of intelligence, and I was constantly being put down for my achievements. Transferred to South and all of that went away. The environment at South is welcoming and the curriculum rigorous if one chooses. If you have the option between any school in Eugene besides North, go there. The education will be superior, and the environment much more welcoming.

This school is a great school with great ideas! The only problem is that there is not enough room in each small school for new students to choose.

North Eugene is, at its core, a school of opportunity. It's simply a fantastic school at fostering students towards doing what they want to do. Diversity is truly embraced at North, and not just in the racial/ethnic form we so often think of. Students of vastly different ideologies, backgrounds, and plans for their futures inhabit the halls of North Eugene. If a student wants to be successful in the traditional sense (pick a subject they want to excel in, score well on standardized tests, get good recommendations and go to a prestigious college), the staff and environment of North will support and push for that. But if they have a different vision for their life, and perhaps want to deviate from traditional societal "success", they're gonna have an experience at North that supports that too. It's all about what the STUDENTS want to do. That's exactly why the small schools of Academy of Arts, IDEAS, and North International were implemented. So that students can pick what's right for them, and forge the path toward the life they want to build for themselves. I can't say enough about North's ability to put students first and care for them. Love, Thomas Hiura Class of 2012

I am a current parrent of a child in this school. I was very excited originally to have my son go there. I am not happy with their (full) schedules. My son is currently scheduled to have 3 classes for a full time schedule. Does that make any sense. 2 free periods during the day. That is a full schedule. The administrators are so worried about him not getting over worked. 2 Educational classes and 1 elective with no homework. Wow... If you are moving here. Look into a private school. If you can not swing that look into another. If all you want is a school for sports I think you will be ok with North...
