We have two kids at WSB. Our experience has been amazing! The teachers and staff know every child's name, greet them each morning with eye contact and a shake of their hands. The day unfolds with greetings and verses or songs and they settle into the peaceful rhythms of the day. They come home singing and full of excitement about what they have learned. The social culture at WSB is the most inclusive and loving of any I have ever witnessed.I cant say enough positive things about our wonderful teachers. They never deviate from guiding the kids by example and honoring them right where they are today. Our older child can be disruptive in class and struggles with transitions so her teacher implemented jumping rope between lessons, noting she needed some extra help, not punishment as we have experienced in other schools. The love the teachers pour into all the kids radiates and shines in their faces when we pick them up from school.

As a Waldorf family with a child about to enter middle school age, we began researching Waldorf schools with exceptional middle school programs to emulate for the Waldorf School where our child was attending. We discovered the Waldorf School of Bend and were so impressed that we relocated to Bend and my wife became the Admissions Director. Needless to say, we couldn't be stronger advocates! If you are new to Waldorf, do your research, then come visit. You will be a little disoriented but pleasantly surprised. More importantly, your children will be blown away and will wonder why they were not introduced to this type of school sooner! If you are already a Waldorf family, you will be hard pressed to find a more inclusive, rewarding and exciting community than what we have here at the Waldorf School of Bend. Please come and share your Waldorf experience with our classes, teachers and parents. We warmly welcome you and your child's input and enthusiasm. Plus you get to live in amazing Central Oregon! It really is as good as advertised...

We have three children at WSB and we are truly impressed with the quality of this education and the school. We are especially impressed with the middle school, as none of the typical middle school issues are present (social media, bullying, peer pressure, etc). Our children are in grades 2, 4, & 6 and simply love going to school. We love WSB's experiential approach to education that is so incredibly rich, integrating arts, music, and handwork into the academic curriculum. WSB teachers instill core values of respect, reverence for nature and community service while inspiring a love of learning in the students. Because our children feel loved and protected by the faculty and staff at WSB, they are incredibly engaged in the education and excited to go to school each day.

This is the third Waldorf school that our son has attended and our favorite. His teacher is the best. She has great communication with the parents on a weekly basis, plans amazing field trips and cooks delicious and nutritious meals with them. Our son is enjoying all his lessons from letters, math, woodworking, movement and handwork (to name a few). We are thrilled with his progress. On top of having a great teacher we also have such a beautiful and supportive school community that is now like family. We are so grateful to have found the right school for us.

We searched for an environment that placed less emphasis on testing and more on deep, engaged learning that meets the child where they are. At Waldorf School of Bend, our daughter feels safe, loved, inspired, and nurtured by the tremendously dedicated faculty and staff. A snapshot of the rich, weekly curriculum, beginning in first grade: math, language arts, Spanish, German, music, cooking, woodworking, handwork, art, movement, nature studies, and lots of time outside -- and more. The field trips ensure that students explore beyond the school's walls (dogsledding, farm visits, and more). From hands-on science experiments to performing a Roman comedy, students here get a truly well-rounded, classical education -- that beautifully builds layer upon layer of knowledge, and a passion for problem-solving, exploration, community involvement, and life itself. It is a growing school with exciting plans for the future and a dedicated, welcoming parent community. On a given day, the cheerful, happy halls are full of the smell of freshly baked bread, the sound of piano and flute, bright watercolors, and happy, curious faces.
