Vose Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

The old school has been torn down and the new school is a Phoenix rising, which opens Sept 2017. Vose is known for it's Spanish immersion program. Half of it's students are in regular-ed classrooms. The teachers and staff are very caring toward their students, and Ms.Galvan, and Ms. Holz are a dynamic leadership team. The school is fully loaded with technology thanks to the BSD bond, and a Verizon Giving STEM grant. Students are learning in so many new ways: filming each other's speeches on ipads, Skyping classrooms in Latin America, collaborating digitally with their peers with Google connected chromebooks. In their tech classes they are coding and building robotics, starting in kindergarten! Their Gym, Library, and Music specialists are amazing. They have a unicycle club. Along with their new school comes redone soccer fields, playgrounds, and more. This is a very global and diverse school so on paper they may not have the highest test scores-they don't fit the standardized mold. This mighty school is focused on raising caring, kind, curious global thinkers.

Worse school ever. On every account. If your child is disabled they will not get the help care or support they need. And no one will help you. 4 class action law suits over Beaverton and disabled students rights being denied. And parents rights being denied. Have fun people. Walked into worse elementary school ever. Exp if you and your child don't speak Spanish. 80% Hispanic so my son couldn't go to the bathroom because he couldn't read the signs on the walls directing to cafeteria gym bathrooms office and classrooms. Good luck. I will nevchihave my child put through that again.. Ever...!

The staff work tirelessly to help the students meet goals throughout all academic areas. They work with the parents and the community to make sure that students have all what they need to be successful.

We LOVED this school and the staff there. We moved to Beaverton from out of state and found a wonderful family here of caring staff and many who have become life long family friends. This school was both an incredible academic and social environment for our children. Not only are my children both well skilled at speaking Spanish they also have an appreciation and comfort for other cultures.

While they do tend to show preference to spanish speaking families, this is likely the result of the fact that the majority of the school comes from the hispanic community. That said, my child has been in the immersion program since first grade and, while I haven't like all the teachers, the program itself is wonderful and my son now can read, speak and write in spanish very well. They also have some fun activities, such as their unicycle club (which rode in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade this past year). There is a lot of parental involvement, there would probably be even more but they tend to schedule family activities at rather early times. My big peeve is that if you send a child to school with a coat, there's a decent chance that child will leave without a coat. Coats lost on the playground do not ever make it to lost and found.
