Concerned parent. I can not for the life of me figure out how these parents are praising this school! We moved here from a very small town at the beginning of the school year ( we hears wonderful things about the school) boy were we WRONG! Mustang has a serious drug problem, a teen pregnancy problem & most of the teachers are lazy & out of touch! After 4 months of school. We just couldn't take it anymore we yanked the kids moved them to Tuttle. Before you jump all over me please note I am OVERLY involved with my children, they both are in a classes and athletes. I would not recommend this school especially the high school.

My son loves this school, no it's not all cute puppies and rainbows but he's happy with it and is enrolled in AP classes and a football player...he figured out life is what you make of it and makes the most of his, doesn't hold others responsible for his happiness and future....

I have had students in Mustang schools for six years and have NO idea why these parents are bad-mouthing this outstanding school district. Please be encouraged to investigate for yourself before you believe the words of these people who have very obviously NOT met ANY of the amazing, talented, and caring teachers that we have. Many teachers are experts in their fields with advanced degrees, and the ones we know go above and beyond for their students. I would google the Mustang Elementary art program (they have won national awards consecutive years running due to an amazing teacher!) You might also be interested in the Robotics team, DECA, the Band, and all of the sports programs...not to mention Relay for Life...there are awesome students and great opportunities...and, if your student has learning or behavior difficulties, it's a good indication that the parents do need to be extremely involved with the school for the child's sake...it is a public school after all...and those issues do make more work for everyone involved. But, NONE of the teachers we know let us notice it. Education is the parents' responsibility first; people tend to forget that an IEP isn't a magic bullet.

dealt with Mustang systems (15 +) years.1 son honors/1 in special ed. Many teachers are apathetic/ unmotivated no matter gradeschool - high school. high school has been the worst.. they feel put upon to do their job. You will never meet with a Mustang school teacher that will not tell you how overwhelmed/ over worked they are- what a bad day it has been etc. Bullying is not allowed from the kids(on paper) but the teachers participate in this agressive threating behavior frequently - phone, email ,in person. communication does not exist. at any level . each year gets worse.. this year I hope for better with new set of administrators(again) but am not overly hopeful. my kids are flexable for sure as they head to college and graduate school etc.. they were not prepared for college .. just a bit of advice pay all fees with check and keep reciepts they double charge for things. the teachers that cannot keep track of their own paperwork are allowed to get in our kids brains.. its really very sad.. posting grades.. some do and some do not.. so keep track and don't assume your kid is making up how bad it is.. because they are not.. they really might have done the work.. !!!
