Wyoming High School Ratings & Reviews

The major disappointment is how the teachers average grades down, not up. If you made an A- the second semester, and a B+ the first, you will get a B+ . There is no incentive to do better......

I loved my time in Wyoming City Schools. I started at Hiltop and graduated from WHS in 2008. The curriculum is top notch and the atmosphere encourages academic development. It can be hard for students of color to fit in and feel comfortable (as I am). I went on to obtain my Bachekors degree from an accredited university and currently have a successful career in HR. I believe going to Wyoming was the first step in mentally preparing me for a successful professional life.

I'm a junior this year (2013-2014) and I must say that I absolutely love it here. Wyoming is a place where, regardless of who you are, you will exceed academically. The coursework is challenging and stimulating, but not to the point where there is no life other than school. The vast majority of people do at least one sport, if not more. The students are extremely active in clubs as well. For example, I am on the swim and track teams, am a member of Student Council, OMUN, Project Lead, Prom Committee and I am an active volunteer. Everyone fits in somewhere and has friends. No one is left out completely. Another great thing about WHS is the extreme freedom that is given the the students. We can chew gum and use our phones during class, something that is unimaginable in other schools. The only area where Wyoming isn't "perfect" is that we're known as a party school. Our reputation is that we study and get good grades during the week and party off the stress on the weekends. This affects everyone. Even the Ivy Leaguers. However, this is more an issue with the community than the school. Overall, Wyoming is a great place to raise children who can succeed and still know how to live life.

I am really disappointed to read the reviews on this site. I graduated in 1962 from Wyoming with an excellent education from great teachers whose names I'll never forget. The education I recieved at Wyoming I found to have been better than the education my children got at one of the top private schools (tuition now $35,000 a year for high school) in the country located in Pasadena, CA. I was a "B" student, played three sports, was active in Art Club, Library Club, Y-Teens, Secretary of my junior class, an arch bearer and stayed up at least to 11:00 pm every night to get my homework done. If students or parents are dissatisfied with or feel the education they or their children are recieving then they need to work with the school to make changes. I"ll always be grateful for how the work I had to do at WHS made college courses seem like a walk in the park. My rating is based on my personal experience from long ago and with the wish that all future reviews give WHS an excellent rating.

This school is trash. We focus on to getting ready for the Ohio achievement assessment way more than it is need and when we score we score high but not as high as we should if we should sense we study it so much..As a student in Wyoming,we excel in math and reading, but that is about it.I would recommend going to walnut hills or a private school where they actually help you learn. Also in the 8th grade science is a complete waste. You already learned all the criteria in the 5-7 grade,so all you do is review.Their are people who sit in class and text well the teacher watches them and the don't get in trouble it is a rule you can't have your phone on you.this is why most people fail chemistry in the 10th grade. The home work is at least Two hours a night and you don't even check over it in class the next days to come.they also don't take it for a grade.I know most of the things i said in here are negative, but it is all true.Wyoming is a great community to live in but,the school is just bad. I hope this review was helpful to you.
