The district is striving towards technology but they are doing too little way to late. 3/4 of the students have technology available to them while the rest have little or none or only what they get at school. Bullying is a huge problem and the principal in the high school is too quick to judge and even though a student reports problems time and time again, as stated something is only done when the victim retaliates and then the victim is punished and informed that the student that was doing the bullying has personal problems and essentially telling you that you have to tolerate them. Then they punish your child. The new principal up there just doesn't get it. And his personality really just doesn't fit the district. Superintendent is pretty tech savvy and is appears to be trying to move in that direction as fast as he can but the limited awareness of technology in those who make the decision is holding the forward movement back.

I feel that the high school does not appropriately deal with bullies. They wait until the victim retaliates and then they punish the victim. Academically they are not doing what they need to do. I have a child on a 504 plan and he is failing every subject so I would say that their accommodations are not working or not being followed. Also, they wait too long to call parents to let them know there is a problem. I was notified when my son had 11 hours of detention to serve but then it was too close to the end of the school year to serve them so they suspended him for 2 days. They treat the students like they are all from the same cookie cut out. I warned them that when my child started to get detentions that it was a sign that he was having trouble emotionally & that I needed to notified but they failed to recognize it even after I made them aware.

I am thrilled by the commitment the teachers have to the students. The Principle is always visable and very approchable. The kids are happy to go to school and most have big goals beyond highschool. The community should support the schools financially more but with less they still do a great job.

I am a '04 alumnus of Streetsboro City Schools, and feel that the district, and especially the high school, prepared me quite well for my future career. I went on to graduate summa cum laude from Kent State University and have career I love working as a designer for Nesnadny + Schwartz.
