The Lillian & Betty Ratner School Ratings & Reviews

This is a very confused school. It is trying to be Hawken, Lawrence, and a school for children on the spectrum but whose parents are in denial. The teachers are not impressive. At the end of the day, trying to be all things to all people results in a bad experience for all

I've been a student at The Ratner School for almost eight and a half years now, as I'm entering the final months of my last year at the school. As shown in my five star "excellent" review, this is an amazing place for anyone. When I moved to Ohio in 2006, I was a very shy child, and when I visited Ratner, I felt that everything clicked. From day one, I sensed that I had been at the school since the toddler program (which is fabulous, by the way). I climbed my way through the school, and eventually I achieved the title of Student Body President. It's a marvelous school for anyone. I still cannot imagine that in only two months I'll be leaving the school, however Ratner has helped me realize that I'll be moving onto greener pastures. If there was anyone debating whether or not to send their child to this school, I cannot cease to praise the school for everything it has done for me. It's just... words cannot describe how incredibly phenomenal this school. Whether you're sending your child into the Pre-K program, or sending them in the middle of their eighth grade year (which has happened very recently), it's an awe-inspiring school, with gifts to give to anyone.

We love Ratner - and so do the friends we recommended the school to. The teachers and the administration have been SOOO helpful!

The new leadership at this school is terrible! We have spent two great years with a wonderful teacher and this year has been a terrible battle. After my son's teacher left they replaced her with a horrible teacher who has never led her own class. The kids all had a terrible time adjusting and she was just purely not meant to teach. Another student already left, I just pulled mine out, and another parent is on the brink of pulling her son out. There is NO help from the administration. After months and months of trying to fix the problem they would not move him to another room with more experienced and great teachers. This school is too expensive to endure this and for my son to be miserable. If you are at all considering this school please know you enter at your own risk. The administration will not be helpful if anything goes wrong. In addition, please check on how many days your child will be in school. There is no school on every Jewish holiday, in the fall there are a lot. In the spring they take a lot of time off for teacher "in-serivce" days. You do not get a lot for your money.
