Yes, I too, am a parent and from the start of school I had concerns. I have met with faculty and principal, still not very happy. We will do summer tutoring. When I met with the principal and teacher they too said my child was inattentive and may want to consider mediation. I am a medical professional and there is no way I will medicate my child. My child may have a mild inattentiveness, but not extreme ( what kid isn't and not all kids get information perceived and processed the same way) As adults we are taught about VARK and learning styles, but it seems public schools only teach one way and if your kid doesn't get the way its presented the first time they are going to be lost. We manage to get all homework done and assist her at home. We just didn't go to college to teach academics. It seems like the teachers want statues that will just stay planted in their seat all day. My daughter told me she feels like she isn't ever allowed to talk at school, second grade! I never verbally say how hard I think her teacher is out loud...because she has to go back and deal with her every day for the rest of the year. They are an unfriendly school.

First I will say the Mrs. Nashu likes to appear to be a helpful principal but when in a meeting with her...I felt like I was with a politician. She was unable to give me a straight answer and circled around the question. My sons 2nd grade teacher was awful..she cause my son to have anxiety attacks in class. Constantly was pushing me to medicate him....even though our family physician for 8 years didn't agree. Didn't report any signs of him struggling til it was too late to try to fix his grades. Over all he was a huge disappointment. My son is receiving summer help to catch him up and hopefully help. There is a 3rd grade teacher that yells so loudly at her class you can hear throughout the building. All of her students are constantly crying. I know a young girl that had her and hated school. Was getting d and f grades. Was terrified of this teacher somehow passed. Now she is at central and had made ho or roll all year. Loves school. And is doing amazingly. Another child was so miserable at west that had talked about suicide.... 2nd and 3rd grade shouldn't even know what that is let alone want to commit it. This school in this district is a disgrace.

The teachers and principal do a great job! They are involved and actually care about each child. So far my child has missed each teacher he has had at C.D. Brillhart and at West.
