Since this school district is NOT title one. They do not receive the extra funding from the Federal Government. So they try and get any student they can on an IEP so they can get extra money from the state. Some Classes are set up for kids to fail. There are 12 4th grade classes. If you are lucky you get a normal paced class in math so the student can gain confidence in there math skills.A student may also be placed in a class room with 2 other co- teachers who go at a very fast pace. My child was put in a class where the students ended up being 10-15 pages ahead of other normal paced classes in math. The very fast pace class will not send home study guides to study of the test, will NOT tell the student and parents when test are. Will tell the parent she is not aloud to see the test. THis is not the policy of publisher of BRIDGES IN MATH . The school will tell you that but it is not true the publisher states that is a district policy not the publishing company policy. This school is fuelled by greed!!! They will argue with you, gang up on you if you disagree. Call you at home after you say NO, and then put your child in a class set up for failure. If you are called into a meeting, it will not be one on one, call an EDUCATIONAL LAWYER!! NO your rights they will not tell you them. Sometimes you just have to leave.

I am deeply disappointed at the lack of organized communication and attention given to student inquiries on both homework/classwork and general operating procedures. We recently moved here, and "the great" school system was a large part of our choice. Six weeks into the year perhaps is not enough to make a fair eval. Don't see much improvement over confusion of first few weeks. The office staff is great, and I do agree with May 21, 2008 post.

The office staff is great. They engender a false sense of trust in the school which is broken by the teaching staff. The community is great and the scores are great, but it is a chicken and egg issue. The scores are great, because of the parents of the children taking the tests and not the educators. They then hide behind the test scores to rationalize their positiion that they obviously know what they are doing. Limited course shoises, no foreign languages, no individula adaptive teaching techniques, limited commucation. The only thing that makes Hudson and East Woods is the community which is great. The teachers needs to pull their heads out of the sand and become involved instead of thinking that they are the reason for the highly educated student populace that they have.

There is a wide disparity in the educational experience depending on teachers. Some are very demanding, create their own curriculum, and expect three or more hours a night of homework. Others never give homework and demand little of students. The one area of consistency is a remarkably poor math program that teachers estimating and techniques for standardized test taking and ignores basic mathematical principles.
