Top notch school in all aspects. It is extremely difficult, competitive and will push your child more than they would ever expect to be pushed. My graduating class had 250 students. All 250 students continued their education in college. We produced over 30 National Honor Society students and produced over 100 academic and athletic college scholarships of the 250 graduates that year. I wouldnt consider sending my own children anywhere else in the country.

My son shadowed at this school two times, we also visited for other events. My husband and his siblings went to St X so we were giving it a chance. We were encouraging our son to accept going to St X at one point. My son felt completely lost and over whelmed in the environment at St X.. Additionally, we were looking for an experience which would challenge our son, after receiving a 97th percentile on the hspt and an A average student in a Catholic middle scbool...we were initially thinking this school would be a perfect fit. Yes, my husband loved his high school experience at St X.. St X has changed. . St X now has a reputation for being an athletic powerhouse, allowing all level students in and many, many students. If you would like a more individualized Catholic education keep searching. We chose another local catholic high school which would promote our sons individuality.

I am a current junior at St. X. After my short time here, I don't regret going here at all. The academics are tough, but that just makes us better, stronger, more academically prepared men. But more importantly, this school teaches us how to be the best men we can be. It challenges our character by putting us into situations (sometimes uncomfortable ones, like helping out and hanging out with disabled children) that allows us to grow into men for others, people who help out others, no matter what. These challenges are what define us. This school teaches us to turn uncomfortable situations into opportunities to help out the world, and to discover our character. On top of that, St. X students form a bond that lasts a lifetime. It sounds clich , but I am a part of a brotherhood, and St. Xavier has greatly improved my life, but it all depends on the effort of the student.

Former student at St. X and MIT. Like so many others, I can't express how great this school is. Academically, I felt better prepared than almost everyone at MIT. But academics aren't everything. I think they do more than any other school to develop character and encourage students to think about social, cultural, and religious issues, without ever indoctrinating. St. X doesn't just produce good students, but also good people. And finally, unlike other high-end prep schools, you get athletics and interaction with "normal" people, not just people entering math competitions. I think this is a valuable life skill and is under-appreciated by parents. No matter what you do in life, shear intelligence can only get you so far. Eventually, you've got to be able to deal with other people.

I went to St. Xavier High School and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I'm sorry, but if your child got "lost in the numbers" then that is his own fault. St. Xavier provides COUNTLESS opportunities to get involved, be active and make a difference. Based in Jesuit tradition, St. X CONTINUES to only accept the brightest and the most worthy. Many "legacies" are denied entrance because they have either failed to live up to the grade school GPA requirements or the entrance exam requirements. The athletics are top in the country, are funded as well as some college teams and are ancillary to the academic standards expected. You will be very hardpressed to find a Bomber who did not appreciate, enjoy and grow from his time at this school.
